    Default Wuxia's great flunkies?

When someone writes or says the phase "wuxia flunky," the image that comes to mind are relative losers such as that gang of henchmen that served Yeun Nan Hung Lit and Yeung Hong in LOCH, or the junior Three Evils from DGSD...people like that who did not have very great martial arts and generally had to kowtow (literally) to people in higher authority.

But occasionally, you get these great wuxia flunkies who are extremely proud and formidable individuals in of themselves...almost to the point that they could seriously threaten the masters that they serve.

The one who comes to mind as being the coolest of these is Ging Mo Meng from SENTIMENTAL SWORDSMAN RUTHLESS SWORD. Although Ging served Seung Gwoon Gum Hung faithfully, Ging was a swordsman whose skill rivaled Ah Fei's. One got the sense that although Ging worked for SGGH, Ging was his own man and served Seung Gwoon only because he wanted to, not because he *had* to.

Are there any more wuxia "flunkies" like this?

He Tieshou, she was pretty strong. I can't really think of one that can beat her other than Hua Shan and Iron Sword sects' top martial artists. Yuan Chengzhi really lucky to be have someone around like her.

How do you define "flunky"? Just someone who is a subordinate?

In Ode to Gallantry we have:
    - the 2 envoys of “Command of reward and punishment: Zhang San, Li Si
    - Bei Haishi of the Clan of Eternal Happiness

Very powerful martial artists, but lacking the mentality to be what I think to be the "great flunkies." The thing about Chiu Mun's flunkies is, despite their great martial arts, they were all too willing to grovel and kowtow to people in authority, and were fearful of their bosses even though, in terms of martial arts, they could easily reduce their bosses to grease smears. The great flunkies do not grovel or kowtow to their bosses: they serve their bosses only because they WANT to (for whatever reason), and the minute they lose interest or feel that their bosses are disrespecting them, they will either leave or let the bosses know in no uncertain terms that they serve ONLY on their own terms.

It's the difference between how the likes of Sa Tung Teen served Yeun Nan Hung Lit and how West Poison Au Yeung Fung did: the regular flunkies are afraid of their bosses. The great flunkies make their bosses afraid.

Ao Bai from Deer and the cauldron? He was whipping Kangxi around until Wei Xiao Bao came along.

How about the gang of misfits who worked for the mongols in LOCH? (I can't name all the names but the bunch that ended up going to Passionless Valley) Including Gold Wheeled Monk?

Also, does this include Au Yeung Feng and Au Yeung Huk when he helped Yeun Nan Hung Lit?

The four guys who worked for South Emperor Yideng?
