An associate consultant sounds like someone hired to work on his own times. Senior analyst sounds like a peon that's been a peon for a long time.
Impossible to tell. Depends on industry and company.
My opinion is that it's different streams, so one isn't higher than the other because you're looking at different ladders.
Consultants probably get paid more because they face the client and bring in the money. Analysts do the work.
I don't think many people outside the industry fully understand the distinction between "consultant" and "analyst" (don't the two positions sometimes overlap?), so given the choice between "associate" and "senior", most people would probably regard the latter as more prestigious.
I voted Associate because in my company the title "Associate" is higher then "Analyst".

Depends on the company of course, but consultants always seem to get paid more and have more autonomy.

There are a lot of factors involve. Like most have already said, one factor is the company. Also, the industry and what the duties involve. The title may just be an ego booster, but doesn't pay more.
My take is that consultants usually get ridiculously high salaries.
So a Sr Consultant > Sr Analyst.
Sr Analyst > Associate Consultant.
job titles doesnt bother me, im more interested in the paycheck.
Analysts are usually in-house, consultants are usually from a consulting firm or on a contract basis. So there's no real valid basis of comparison regarding 'seniority'.

1. Different field, so can be different in many senses
2. Depend , which side were people look into at both job. i would say SR Analyst sounds hinger coz there's a senior there but mind you that Associate Consultant has the power of making decisions in his/her hand...
Just so you guys know, Associate Consultant and Senior Analyst are titles given at my company for the same kind of job; one is at a higher level than the other. The field is exactly the same and the job content is largely similar.

In-house vs contract/agency, in-house will always be cheaper/get less pay. This is true for virtually every single position, from law to medicine to HR to whatever.

In my previous job, associate consultant is a very high position. it goes something like analyst, senior analyst, assistant manager, manager, associate consultant, ...
analysts and senior analysts do more of the low-level work in the firm a.k.a me
