That might be all too true in a world driven by materialistic status but there would always be a segment of people scattered here and there somewhere and it need not necessary be from a more conservative society who just aren't taken up by these things and this here place is a good example where the time cherished traditional virtues could take form helped by that Asian to Asian appeal.

I don't think it'd survive the drastic disparity in values between a fictional medieval world and the actual modern world. At least one side would need to make an improbable adjustment.
