    Smile Winston Zhao Wen Xuan

No, he's not Vincent Zhao Wen Zhuo's brother.

I love the layout of his website.

I'm currently watching "Qian Qiu Jia Guo Meng" (Bonds of Blood) and felt inclined to start a thread on Zhao Wen Xuan. He does a wonderful job of playing two different characters (Xu Bai Ting and Xu Chong Zhi) in it. It's kind of interesting because the first time I saw him act was in "Da Ming Gong Ci" and he played dual roles in that series as well. I'm looking forward to seeing him as Tang Ming Huang in the upcoming "Da Tang Fu Rong Yuan". I think he's quite a handsome and convincing actor. He also reminds me of one of my uncles.

Is this the same actor who was in Wedding Banquet, a movie directed by Ang Lee?

I loved him in Bonds of Blood, esp. the story line between him and Anita Yuen...eventhough he sort of was a sissy lol. I hated David Wu in that series for some reason. I dunno...something about David Wu bothers me...stupidity just comes to mind.

I think Winston is the best in the Wedding Banquet. U should also check him out in Eat Man Drink Woman.

Anita Yuen wasn't in Bonds of Blood...do you mean Li Wan Hua, the actress who played Liu Liu?

I agree, David Wu was annoying with his English quips and overexaggerated eye movements. He's a terribly fake performer who often overacts. I guess one saving grace is the fact that he does resemble someone from the Xu family.

I just watched Eat Drink Man Woman. Winston looked really handsome in there, but he didn't have that much screentime. The movie was mainly focused on the father and the love lives of his three daughters. I didn't see the surprise at the end coming when the father announced his relationship with Madame Liang's daughter instead of Madame Liang!

Yeah he didn't have a very big role. A caucasian friend of mine had to watch it for one of her courses back in college. she lent me the dvd so i remembered watching it. I recommended it to u because the movie is quite interesting eventhough he isn't in there for too long. But that is the catchy factor for Winston....even with a brief appearance his demure but captivating performance leaves an impression.

Definitely. There were many good factors in the movie (like the drool-worthy food preparation scenes) and he was the "oolala" one. How is his role in The Wedding Banquet? Does he have more screentime in there?

Yeah, he definitely has plenty of screen time in the wedding banquet since he is the main character. It's a good movie, but I am sure you already know it is sort of an indepedent film. His character is gay and has to hide that "small tidbit" from his taiwanese parents who are visiting him in the states.

I watched The Wedding Banquet and it was quite an enjoyable film with a unique theme (especially back when it was made) intermixed with lighthearted humor. Ang Lee himself made a cameo appearance in the movie as one of the banquet guests who had a one-liner. The actor who played Winston's father was the same one who played the father in Eat Drink Man Woman. He must have been a favorite of Ang Lee's. I didn't know Winston could speak English; he actually sounded pretty decent. Was The Wedding Banquet Winston's first film role? He's a very natural actor who AFAIK didn't have much formal training. He also seems to look better with age.

I'm not sure i think it was his first film role but perhaps not his first media appearance. He used to be a flight attendant on a singaporean airline so it doesn't surprises me that he can speak english. I also agree that he looks better as he ages...just like fine wine

The pose and that background in that first picture is so girly. And he looks nothing like his brother.

The pic is from Da Ming Gong Ci, but it actually reminds me of Lin Ping Zhi from Xiao Ao Jiang Hu (especially after he learned Pi Xie Jian Fa).

I'd like to take more flights on which the male flight attendants are of Winston's visual caliber.

I really like this actor. He was great in Blood Bond/Bonds of Blood. I've also seen him in Ang Lee's "The Wedding Banquet." His English isn't bad at all, and he could really kiss even with that one white dude.

    Default Great Actor...

Love him in Da Tang Fu Rong Yuan since he oozled in charms. He was so captivating as the emperor that somehow his relationship with Yang Gufei did not seem that incestuous and gross anymore. He was a more worthy partner for Yang Gufei than the 18th prince, who was a little whiny.
    Great actor....

Lady Zhuge, do you know where I can watch Da Tang Fu Rong Yuan? I don't understand Chinese, but Viet dubbed is taking too long.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

Mr. Chao's birthday was yesterday...48! And he reopened his blog again in April: http://blog.sina.com.cn/zhaowenxuan2007

I wonder when "Han Ye" will be aired? I read the synopsis on sina the other day and the storyline is so sad.

A little late, but you should be able to watch the series on tudou.com. Let me know if you still need links.
