Hate to disappoint you (well, not really), but Kobe's planning on going until he's got more rings than MJ...and possibly more points than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I don't know if he'll get the second, but you bet he's going after the first.

Kobe and the Fakers were given their title last year in an attempt by the league to "save the image" of the NBA.
If Stern and his boys wanted to "save the image" of the NBA, they'd have "given" the title to anybody BUT the Lakers.

Or is it not the haters' pet theory that the entire league is one big pro-Laker conspiracy?

Only those who never win complain that the league deals in conspiracies.

Won't happen this time though. I'll take Melo, Mr. Big Shot, The BirdMan, and K-Mart in 6. Mark it down.
The Nuggets haven't won as much as a Western Conference title yet.

Walk the walk, THEN talk the talk.

    1. He may have more rings than MJ, but he'll never be an MJ. MJ made guys into All-Stars...chumps like Pippen and Grant who never did anything after him, Kobe needs to have All-Stars shipped in to bail him out (eg, Shaq, Gasol) -- how many Western Conf finals did he make without those two.....since the WC finals seems to be your benchmark for success.

    2. What the NBA really likes, and what's good for the game is to have historic franchises win championships. It gives fans something to cheer for (I'd say about 1 out of 4 NBA fans is a Laker fan, similar to the Cowboys in football and the Yankees in baseball) and haters something to cheer against. No one will give a flying frogs fat tookus if the Sacramento Kings win the championship, least of all the NBA front office.

WC Finals is setting the benchmark for the Nuggets...since they've never gotten farther than that (Lakers, on the other hand, are rather blase about Western Conference titles because they've won about half of the past thirty of those).

Pippen and Grant were hardly worthless players.

In the season that MJ was playing baseball, the Pippen-led Chicago Bulls lost only a few more games than they did during their previous championship season (I think it was only three more games). They got to the Eastern Conference Finals and perhaps were just a bad call or two by the officials from representing the Eastern Conference in the Finals again.

Horace Grant was not as good all-around as Pippen, but with him, Shaq's Orlando Magic got to the NBA Finals in 1995, and the 2001 Lakers would not have been as successful in that season's playoffs without Grant's contributions.

If you want to play the "he couldn't have won without..." game, tell me: how many Finals or Conference Finals did MJ lead any of his teams to without some combination of these players: Pippen, Grant, Rodman, Kukoc?

Explain, then, why the San Antonio Spurs have won four of the past eleven NBA titles?

We shall see. The Cavs have slightly less than a half-season to see if they can put this combination together to win playoff basketball. After the playoffs start, it's almost as if a "reset" button is pressed and the season starts over. Regular season success is no guarantee of playoffs success. This is something both the Lakers and Cavaliers know from earlier experiences.

So was that a miss or a make?

We don't know...just like we won't know the result of the next Lakers/Nuggets playoff meeting until it's over.

Mark it down, baby! No matter how much Kobe strains his little calf muscles in his vain attempt to bother the superior jumpshot of Carmelo Anthony, it will all come to naught. The Nuggets in 6. Take it to the bank.

All you have right now is a lot of empty talk and no trophy to show for it. You'd best not disappear in May when the Nuggets do.

    ken ken ken,
just let him entertain whatever idea he likes while he still can. May speaks for itself.

no matter how much you tire your finger muscles from typing, you can't stop someone from blind faith, regardless of whether the belief is true, false, probable, improbable, etc.

Mavs and nuggets definetly are darkhorses and have a decent chance to upset LA. At the beggining of the year i had LA as pretty much unbeatable but, they have not played great team ball throughout the year. However, they are still winning because they're stacked with talent. Anyways, still have 20+ games to figure it out...

Mavs are killin it as of late...lol @ kid's play last night...

yep, the cavs a couple years back were proof of that....swept spurs in regular season and ended up being swept by the spurs in finals...so the 2 wins over la in the regular season prob does not mean 2 much...

also, over a 7 game series jackson definetly has the advantage with making adjustments...i don't think 2 highly of brown as a coach....

Assuming the Nuggets get past the Jazz or Mavericks to meet the Lakers. Thinking Lakers is premature at this point for the Nuggets. They won't necessarily get past the Jazz, Mavericks, or even those creaky Spurs (well, maybe the Spurs...they aren't what they used to be).

The Cavaliers also had a devastatingly great regular season last year. Last season, the Cavs, not the Lakers, Celtics, or Magic, had the best regular season and looked the most dominant. They still looked good in the first two rounds of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

But when they met the Magic, it was all for not. The Cavs have added a few players they believe will get them over the hump this season, but until they actually beat the Magic, Hawks, or Celtics (also a diminishing force, like the Spurs in the West), it probably doesn't matter what they do in the regular season.

They have the hawks number.....they've beaten them 6 str8 times if you count last years playoffs....

I think a healthy celtics team r the cavs biggest threat, if Z comes back they can prob take out magic who r not a great road team and are probably worse than they were last year...and the bobcats (seriously..it could be the warriors mavs all over again )....larry brown just kills mike brown with his lineups...just a bad match up for the cavs...

Bron is the run away mvp this year imo....stats monster with with his passing...yet he somehow manages to lead the L in scoring as well...by far the most physically gifted player i've seen since shaq in his prime...
