interesting stuff!
supermonk = embodiment of a buddhist deity, no wonder he is so goddamn invincible.

Pur-lease...
SM is obviously not some supernatural being written by Jinyong, the XF palm showed that.
actually 'the person in the back running at top speed but can't catch up to the person in front casually walking' happens a lot in hindu mythology. it's a parable about the enlightened and those not. one of krishna's stories has the same.
but there's another similarity between anguilamala and XF. anguilamala was an unstoppable fighter who destroyed the king's army singlehandedly resulting in the king asking for buddha's help. he was famous for his brutal ways and for cutting of the little finger(anguila) of his victims to make a garland(malai), thus his name. when XF goes mad, he killed several fighters in a go.
in the end anguilamala reformed and became a monk but was killed by villagers who recognized him and set upon him with sticks and stones. anguilamala did not fight back repenting for his sins and died. XF killed himself for his 'sin' in betraying his country.
THE KYSS OF THE SWORD IS DEADLY BUT EXQUSITE
he's the strongest in history but he's the disciple.

the theme of tlbb is buddhist enlightenment and it's evident that supermonk was modeled on a buddhist deity whose power and clemency are boundless and peerless. considering tlbb is teh last long novel jy wrote, supermonk is easily the most powerful character of all of his books.
Being the most powerful doesn't make him a supernatural being.
