Default Characters who appeared in the same novel, but never met?

Wuxia stories, particularly Jin Yong's, tend to have large casts of characters. Often, two characters who appear extensively in the same novel somehow never cross each other's paths. Some examples:

    DGSD:

Kiu Fung and the Siu Yiu Sect Elders

Chung Man Sau and Kau Mor Tze

    LOCH:

Genghis Khan and East Heretic Wong Yerk See

Muk Lim Chi and Princess Hua Jeng

The Gong Nam 7 Freaks and South Emperor 1 Deng

    ROCH:

Gwok Jing and Gung Sheun Tze

Fok Do and Lee Mok Sau

Dat Yee Ba and West Poison Au Yeung Fung

    HSDS:

Cheung 3 Fung and Tse Tsun

Granny Golden Flower and Mo Dong 7 Heroes

Mit Jeut See Tai and Yan So So

These characters had extensive appearances in the same novels, but somehow never encountered each other.

Which other non-meetings between characters in the same novel do you think might have been interesting?

Caveat: don't pick meetings between characters whose appearances in novels were so brief that it isn't at all noteworthy that they didn't meet (how could they if they got a page or less of facetime at opposite ends of a novel; for example, there's no possibility that Gwok Siu Teen could ever have met Muk Lim Chi during LOCH because Gwok Siu Teen died before Muk Lim Chi was even conceived). Choose characters who had many appearances in the same novel, were alive at the same time, and *could* have met, but somehow never did.

LOCH: Yeung Hong's mom and Princess Hua Jeng.
Yeung Sit Sum and Wong Yuek See.
Yeung Hong's Mom and Wong Yuek See.
Both Yeung Sit Sum and his wife never meet any of the great.
    Yeung Hong and 1 Deng.
Yeung Sit Sum, his wife, Yeung Hong, and Munianci didn't meet Genghis Khan.
Mei Siu Fung and 1 Deng.
Au Yeung Ke didn't meet 1 Deng, Genghis Khan, Gwok Jing's mom.
Gwok Jing mom didn't meet any of the great, Munianci, and most of the people in the central plain.

There is a lot more in LOCH.

The best of the lot. Both were either friends or at least close acquaintances, and were on the same mountain on the same day, but never met in the text. It might just be conceivable though that Yideng going down might have passed Huang Yaoshi going up.

I can almost see those two Greats giving each other a fistbump en rout.

    1 Deng: Yo, Wong.

    Wong Yerk See: 'Sup, monk!

madam Ma -- Supermonk (i wonder how the biatch would hit back at Supermonk if he/she ignored her voluptuous exterior)

But the most notable misses must be Duan Yu and Wuyazi and Li Qiushui, given he's read Wuyazi's writings to "Qiushui mei" and followed the instructions of Li Qiushui. Also Wuyazi and Wang Yuyan, the doppelganger of the heavenly goddess he was infatuated with. The most notable misses should be those where there is a big plot link or what-if if they did meet, but they don't.

Even though they didn't appear extensively, one could assume WCY and DGKP was around a similar time frame, that would be nice showdown.

SPW: Feng Qingyang and Ren Woxing, I think RWX only heard about Feng Qingyang, but they never met, not sure about this one.

    Feng Qingyang and Dongfang Bubai

    Zhang Sanfeng and Du-generation monks

Xie Xun and Miejue (HS vs DS)

    ROCH:

Hong Qigong/Ouyang Feng and Golden Wheel Monk (the 2 Greats had wanted to meet Wheelie, but died too soon)

Hong Qigong/Ouyang Feng and Huang Yaoshi/Yideng

    Qiu Qianren and Gongsun Zhi

    OTG:

    Xie Yanke and Bai Zizai

Xie Yanke and Zhang San/Li Si

Never thought of that. That would have been so interesting to see Wuyazi meeting Wang Yuyan..."Mei Mei, is it really you, after all these years, you have not changed one bit. I myself, am now an old man."

Hmm, has it been really that long since a Survivor game. Those choices above would make great candidates for a "Who you wish would have met each other in the novel" game.

It's a shame that 3 DGSD men who represented the epitome of pussywhipped woman-attachment did not have a chance to meet:

    1. HE WHO KILLS OTHERS AT SIGHT Zhong Wanchou
    2. IRON HEAD You Tanzhi
    3. the nameless Zhao Qiansun

Although Zhao and You were both present at Juxian Manor, You's father was ashamed of him and may not have introduced him to Zhao.

I've always found it interesting that in SPW, many people seem to know who Feng Qingyang is, but almost no one in the book actually meets him.

Hopefully his appearance won't be considered too brief to meet Ken's criteria, since it's a very pivotal point in the novel.

Makes Feng Qingyang more mysterious and likable in a hard-to-get way.

This was quite sad, as Li Ping never did get to meet the girl who captivated her son so, even more so than the Mongolian princess who was devoted to her family. My favourite part of LOCH 2009 was the extra filler scenes between Huang Rong and Li Ping, and how they got to know each other and having started off on the completely wrong foot, learned to respect and love each other. Li Ping was portrayed as being more aggressive than I pictured her, but it was very touching, culminating in that sad parting scene where Li Ping acknowledges Huang Rong as her future daughter in law by teaching her how to communicate with animals.

LOCH '82 (TVB) also gave Wong Yung and Lee Ping one token scene together, and they really didn't interact. They just happened to be inside the same tent when Gwok Jing and Lee Ping were offering incense to Gwok Siu Teen and "reporting" to him that his killer, Yeun Nan Hung Lit, had been brought to justice.

From things that were said immediately afterwards, however, I discerned that Lee Ping didn't have a very good impression of Wong Yung.
