Default Ouyang Feng - the greatest time setter?

In LOCH, it is said that:

    欧阳锋原想以蛤蟆功在郭靖小腹上偷按一掌,叫他三年后伤发而死

Ouyang Feng wanted to secretly hit Guo Jing on the stomach, so that the hit would take effect 3 years later and cause Guo Jing to die.

Does that mean the hit is so secretive that Guo Jing may not even know he was hit, and for the next 2.99 years, there would be little to no symptom until the 3 year time interval? If so, that is quite genius, and instantly puts Chen Jinnan's famed 7-day blood coagulation and Xie Xun's 7 Maim Fist detonation to minuscule worthiness.

I get the impression that OYF meant to make the strike in such a way that GJ wouldn't realize he was being attacked in time to defend himself. By the time GJ realized he had been injured it would have been too late. But he would know he was injured.

The attack would still be pretty impressive, though, if it could cause an eventually fatal injury with such an inobvious strike. And if OYF was certain it would cause fatality after 3 years, then there was probably no treatment for such an injury.

Gwok Jing didn't die as a result of this particular strike. Main character shields aside, why did it fail?

    Because OYF never hit him.

it wasn't a real strike, he had his hand on GJ when he was searching him. GJ allowed it. OYF was going to send his inner power out and cause GJ a serious injury but HYS anticipated it and put his hand on OYK's fatal accuipoint. OYF did not dare make the attack and risk his son's life.

Point is, OYF clearly thought he was able to set GJ's death in 3 years' time.

Where did OYF intend to strike GJ?

The stomach seems like a bad choice and i can't forsee how he can think that a strike in the stomach could cause death in three years.

The alternatives such as at the back of the neck i.e. if he intend to injure the cervical bones so that in 3 years time, there would be so much swelling around the spinal cord that GJ would be paralyzed and cannot breath and hence death; would make more sense, if any.

I would be interested in learning the precise location if any. It would also show that OYF is a learned anatomist as well as a well-known toxicologist.

Life in the old martial world certainly could do a lot with the availability of modern surgery.

For example, in many Jin Yong stories- characters were destroyed as losing their martial arts as their tendons were cut.

This is now a very very simple plastic surgery that could easily fix it.

Not to mention, Ouyang Feng completely lost his internal energies to Wang Chongyang. In 5 years (I believe), not only had he completely recouped his former energy, he was once again an equal to the other Greats. Even Hong Qi and Yi Deng was not said to be able to do that in 5 years after they lost their internal.

They can reattach tendons nowadays, but it will never be the same as before they were cut.

I doubt it’s literally three years exact. The magic strike takes a while to build up and cause injury. And it takes around 3 yr’s time to work.
What are you fighting for? Just mix them into pissing beef balls, stupid.

ouyang feng thought he could deal a hit that would kill guojing 3 years later doesnt necessarily mean he was actually capable of doing so. that '1 hit and you will die 3 years later' effect of the toad palm may well be just an exaggeration created by the previous practicians of the technique, ouyang simply had too much belief in that myth.

OYF literally went crazy wanting to become number 1, but he was still very realistic. For instance, he did not impart OYK Toad Stance because he felt that OYK was not ready for it yet (weak internal). I don't think that he would say stuff that he didn't truly believe in.
