    Default Colossal 'sea monster' unearthed

    No it's not Loch Ness.

The fossilised skull of a colossal "sea monster" has been unearthed along the UK's Jurassic Coast.

The ferocious predator, which is called a pliosaur, terrorised the oceans 150 million years ago.

The skull is 2.4m long, and experts say it could belong to one of the largest pliosaurs ever found: measuring up 16m in length.

Yep, and I'm loving them. Hope the scholars keep them coming.

Woooo, I love facinating news like that always! It never fail to amaze me!

Oh, this biggie is one of the largest prehistoric creatures who terrorizes both land and sea.

I wonder if catastrophes like asteroid strikes didn’t occur, if these giants could have survived to this day. These things sure did grow into enormous sizes back in the day. The cliché the bigger they are, the harder they fall is true though. Damn rodents and insects will out-survive humanity for sure. Never mind the even larger animals.

The other way round is also true. When resources are painfully scarce, being small and energy-efficient would help a species to survive into a new era.

Oh yeah, we agree. I was saying small animals will outlast humans as well as the even larger animals. If a meteorite strikes, much, if not most of humanity will be wiped out, and most animals will be gone as well since they don’t have human intelligence to build stuff to protect themselves beyond their instincts.

I suspect that because such creatures as the pliosaur were so large and needed so much energy to survive, they probably would have evolved into something smaller and more efficient over time, even if some other evolutionary force hadn't caused them to become extinct.

Check this link on prehistoric creatures. It's from a movie or something. Looks very interesting to me. (and read the comments too)

    Kinda like American cars.

It’s a good thing for humanity that they are extinct though. Kinda hard for mammals to evolve into big shots with these giants roaming around (referring also to dinosaurs) picking mammals off.

Now, if only scientists discovered fossils of transformers.
