In LOCH, Qiu Qianren murders Ying Gu and ZBT's son. Was a reason ever given? What was he doing in Dali anyway? Why would he arbitrarily kill a child for no reason?

Use his vital energies to take out a strong opponent for the tournament? IIRC, the tournament just finished. If Duan Zhixing became a monk right after the death of Liu Ying (Gu)'s son, but this takes place before the tournament, how could he have gained the title of South Emperor?

QQR can take advantage by stalling Yideng's progress, or even more direct, kill Yideng himself.

the incident with the baby happens about two years after the 1st huashan tournament. WCY died only a few months after passing on XTXG to king duan. ZBT and ying gu's affair happened about a year after the huashan tournament.

It would take Yideng 5 years to regain his power after healing the baby. In mean time, he would be an easy target for QQR.

So with WCY dead, Yideng out of the way, he would secure top 4 at the next tournament.

This plan of trying to get Yideng to deplete his powers is also devised by OYF. He instructed Ying Gu to guide HR and GJ to Yideng to cure HR.
