By the time of ROCH, East Heretic Wong Yerk See was what we might call a "jet setter" today. He was traveling the world, taking in the sights. One would imagine that he went to some pretty exotic places over the years.
But for some inexplicable reason, the Lord of Peach Blossom Island has a strange compulsion for returning to the backwater village of Ga Hing in Gong Nam several times in LOCH and ROCH.
Ga Hing, by all accounts, was not exactly an exotic land of wonderment. It was about as much as a backwater as it got in the Central Plains, and besides, one of Wong Yerk See's least favorite people, Ohr Jen Ngok, originated from there.
Wong Yerk See's reason for going there during LOCH was understandable: he had agreed to a duel with the Cheun Jen 7 Disciples there. For some reason, however, he returned to the village not once, but TWICE during ROCH. He was there at the beginning of ROCH when he tangled with Lee Mok Sau and rescued Ching Ying. A few years later, he was back there again and saved Ching, Luk Mo Seung, Sor Goo, and Yeung Gor from Lee Mok Sau before teaching some of his martial arts to Yeung Gor.
What kept compelling the Lord of Peach Blossom Island to return time and again to this rather insignificant town in Gong Nam?
