Exactly. If Guo Fu was a sadist, she wouldn't be wrecked over Yang Guo's arm, no matter the reasons. She would have stayed on to enjoy the pain Yang Guo was suffering and perhaps add on another slice or two just to watch him wince more. Which obviously she did not do and would never do.

OK, just want to confirm with you guys about a case -- if someone gets pissed off easily (the reason being he/she is losing an argument), and then has the ardent desire to violently damage/hurt the other person, and would get satisfaction out of BOTH the winning AND the other person suffering -- is that sadism or not? It's more like a combination of vengeful + spoiled + evil?

I know someone like that in real life and just want to know if he/she should be classified as sadist or not.

I'm just making a general comment now (that characters are often more complex than stereotypical one dimensional throwaway characters); has nothing to do with Guo Fu specifically.

Of course it was a change of topic. What you brought up has nothing to do with this thread. I don’t know what you are thinking, but I am not going around just looking to contrast your opinion with TC’s. You are not that important. I am at work and I just go to certain threads and read certain posts. If you want to point something in your favor out, then do it yourself.

As for the passages in the book, it’s so easy to find you just have to go to ROCH’s final two chapters, and see that GF was on the trip to Huanshan with GX. And go to the first two chapters of HSDS to see the GF references. With electronic versions, you just have to search for GF’s name within the text. It really literally only takes a few minutes, and even shorter if you know ROCH and HSDS well. So is that really your counter-argument for GF having changed? That I didn’t post the passages from the book?? LOL.

And of course you are wrong on this issue. You may not think you are wrong, but you are. Clearly. You have not even managed to present any evidence that she had changed at all. Just read back on your last few posts. It’s basically about me not combing over threads to contrast you and TC’s viewpoints and getting annoyed about how I am trying to prove that I am “superior,” which I am not trying to do. I am simply asking you guys to shore up your position with some evidence from the book.

i would say, the person has the greater issue of 'bad temper' than 'sadism'. it was out of anger did the person have violent tendencies. if a person is not infuriated and merely enjoying himself on torturing people just for the fun of it, then yea, thats a sadist.

Personally I don't consider those sadist. Besides, fantasizing does have a difference from reality (though dark fantasizing can be a turn off). Harmful fantasies only become an issue if a person goes ahead with it.
