This is Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl we're talking about. "Selfish" and "unfair" go as naturally with them as butter and jam do with toast.

I could hardly imagine anybody more personable than that.

Yeah, but judging from her character...from the things she says and does, do you believe she ever *sincerely* cared about her countrymen of her own volition? She wanted Wong Chung Yeung out of the Ancient Tomb Compound because she wanted *him* (as in available to be in a relationship with her), not because she desperately needed someone to help her to fight the Jin.

Lam Chiu Ying fought the Jin only because Wong Chung Yeung wanted to, and when she got tired of it, she wanted him to abandon their unfinished work so that they could make eyes at each other in seclusion.

It's just *so* Ancient Tombish to put one's personal affairs ahead of one's responsibilities to society. One might say they have the right to do that, and perhaps that's true, but I see no cause to admire it.

Some people say Xiao Longnu is boring, but I find her one of the most interesting characters in wuxia. She represents a very different background than most, and perhaps that makes her hard to identify with for many readers, but for me, I can relate to her on many levels; far away and yet so close.

On the other hand, I find someone such as pre-suffering Xiao Feng to be more boring. Who wants to read about a perfect hero? Zzzzzz. Someone once said Shen Lang had a similar problem: too perfect too early.

He started suffering almost as soon as he showed up, though, so no harm, no foul.

In DGSD, we never really did see Kiu Fung in his full glory (I'm not talking about his ability to kick butt in fights, but to see him at ease and untroubled; we've never actually seen *that* Kiu Fung).

One the one hand you have the Eagle Hero's actions to judge him by. On the other hand, you have his lack of face to judge him by. Why am I not surprised that you go by appearances rather than actions? You're as bad as the teenage girls who fall for the Yang Guo character's good loooks.

Why do you insist on defending him in a post I *specified* was designed for pure bash?

Nobody has said you can't start a glorification thread for Yeung Gor if you can't resist the urge to glorify him.

From the opening post of this thread:

If any Jin Yong characters (or any characters, for that matter) need a dressing-down, it's these two. That's what this thread is for. If you don't like it, the exit is just a mouse click away.

There will be no defending the couple in this thread. This is designated for roasting them over an open flame. You want to defend them...start your own glorification/defense thread for them.
Let this thread serve its function without interference.

Actions? Seems to me that he did most of his heroic work on the stealth. He certainly didn't stick around to sign autographs or kiss babies afterward.

Yeah...I've seen Mr. Divine Condor Hero in action, and his action stinks.

    And finally...

You're as bad as the teenage girls who fall for the Yang Guo character's good loooks.
With that, you went from bashing a character to bashing a fellow forum member, which means whatever high ground you had coming into this post is GONE.

This is the thread for the complete defamation of Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl. If you don't like it, you can make like Kelly Clarkson and "walk away."

The attacks on Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl aren't stopping in *this* thread, and resistance will only intensify them. Those who want to defend Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl are advised to stay clear (and start their own glorification thread if it matters that much to them; surely, you're not expecting ME to do that for you; all I promise you there is that I'll stay clear of it and not interfere with it); you'll only make matters worse for your so-called "heroes."

Honestly: there are enough Yeung Gor love fests up and down this forum. If you want to see an official one, then you'd better roll up the sleeves and break ground with a shovel because the management ain't going to do it for you.

"Sigh"...it's just further proof that this isn't a perfect world. Even if you get 99 people to buy into the program, there's always that one who doesn't get it.

Now one more time, just to make sure everybody understands.

The purpose of this thread can be easily explained with ten rules.

    1. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    2. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    3. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    4. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    5. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    6. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    7. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    8. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    9. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

    10. Bash Lam Chiu Ying and other Ancient Tombers as well.

    Oh, one more extra one:

    11. Bash Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl

Now I hope that wasn't too subtle or ambiguous. I can sort of see how some folks might find these rules sort of opaque.

I mean, really, folks, if you really dig Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl for some unfathomable reason and can't stand the invective in this thread, there are about a dozen different links you can click on this page (including the ad banners) that will instantly take you away from the pain. It's really just that easy: one finger click on the mouse and voila!....pain gone!

Similarly, if you're stamping your feet and gnashing your teeth over the Yeung Gor-bash and feel the need for balance, there's this nice, shiny button labeled "New Thread" in the upper left hand corner of the Wuxia Forum page. See it? Good. Press it once and it'll give you a field: post the title, "Yeung Gor Glorification Thread," type a little text in the text box, press the "Submit" button and voila!...Happy Happy Time for the Cult of Yeung Gor!

After the Democrats give a speech, do the Republicans expect the Democrats to rebut their own points for them?

And finally: don't try to convince me to like or even sympathize with Yeung Gor or Little Dragon Girl. It's been tried before; it's never succeeded. It never will succeed. You'll see the Palestinians and the Israelis and the Chinese and the Taiwanese hug each other and sing "Kumbaya" before you see me giving that ridiculous couple an inch of sympathy...especially in *this* thread.

That in no way, of course, precludes you from making your own thread to sympathize and lionize them all you want. I'll decline the invitation to the opening ceremony, though, thanks.

Is there any part of this that isn't sufficiently clear? I can always explain it again if necessary.

What I dislike is not the bashing of Yang Guo, for he has plenty of flaws as a character and as a depiction, but how you bash him, for reasons that are completely wrong. Using your reasoning for Yang Guo, Xiao Feng stabbing himself at the end of DGSD was the ultimate act of the ultimate prima donna, done purely to make himself remembered. Sure, it's your right to bash him like that, but it doesn't mean you'd be right to do so. Read ROCH and find plenty of valid reasons to dislike Yang Guo.

Why does it matter so much to you? It's my prerogative alone to bash him any way I like for any reason I like. If you really can't stand it, look somewhere else.

    One more time, with feeling:

This is the Yeung Gor/Little Dragon Girl ANTI-Glorification Thread. Its sole purpose is the defamation of these two overwrought, ridiculous excuses for wuxia protagonists.

All are welcome here, but if you're not prepared to bash them, or if you find bashing them uncomfortable, then it's advisable to step aside. This thread is not recommended for people who like Yeung Gor or Little Dragon Girl (or Ancient Tomb Sect members in general).

If you choose to stay anyway, we will not be responsible for your headaches, ulcers, or sudden increases of blood pressure.

In case the point still isn't clear, let me try a metaphorical approach...

To me, this thread is like a porn thread. This is not the sex type of porn, however, but hate porn. Same underlying idea, though: the point is to turn certain people on (but not all people are turned on by porn, I know).

Now the thing is, when you stick a porn movie into your DVD player, do you expect Oscar-caliber scriptwriting, direction, production values, and acting? Do you complain when the porn movie fails to be Oscar-worthy filmmaking?

This thread is porn. When is porn supposed to be *legitimate* anyway?

Now does that metaphorical, analogical explanation make things any more clear?

Maybe someone will start a bash GJ thread in retaliation. LOL. Whatever.

Here’s my latest gripe against YG. He told me talking to animals is fun. Well, I tried to talk to a squirrel today, and it wasn’t. Damn things bite hard!

Ken, I love you. I've been away from the site for a long time cos you know, company restricting sites (why, oh, why?) so can't surf at work.

It gives me great pleasure to come back and see this thread.

As a teenager who was impressionable and who could have fallen for any kind of romance (you know, naive and sucker teenager with stars in eyes kind), I already was annoyed with this story (I admit, I only saw the Andy and Ida series then). But the incessant,

"oh no, Guo yi, you must die with me. oh no, Guo yi, you love me and I love you and we are stuck in the tomb. oh no, Guo yi, you rejected me and I must leave you. oh no, Guo yi, I cannot stand to be away from you so I have come back to look for you. oh no, guo yi, I am no good for you. oh no, Guo yi, I decide to dump my fiance and go back to you yet again. oh no, Guo yi, I am unworthy of you. " etc

    You get the point.

And couple that with the "Gu gu! Gu gu! Gu gu!" moans of Guo yi. ARGH! Just shut the crap up.

And it's a sad era in wulin when EVERY single female in the book is attracted to Mr I'm such a misunderstood and unloved child therefore I am a brooding, sulky rebel. And oh, I'll just lead a life of celibacy for him because he loves that boring woman who is so ready to attend a funeral all the time (Seriously, where does she get all that bleach from to keep it white?)

Excuse me, Mr Jin Yong, we women, have good taste and personality as well and are not all empty vessels (albeit pretty ones).

Me too!! For some reasons, spcnet has been listed as restricted site recently.

    Ohh sorry Ken.

YG became the Eagle Hero just because he had nothing else to do for 16 years. As soon as he was reunited with his GuGu and things calmed down a bit (so it wouldnt be embarrassing to leave and JY wouldnt get hate mails), they went off.
You do know that it is just fiction, dont you?

Ken, while you may have started this thread for a particular purpose, you cannot stop others from responding, even if they do not commit to the intended purpose. Much less on a public forum and public thread.

Sadly not everyone shares the same mindset as Qin Shihuang would have liked. If you want it to be that exclusive, why not start a group and bring your hate there, allowing only like-minded people to join? Over there you can have the complete control you so love.

If you cannot accept different views, you shouldn't be posting at an open forum. It's as simple as that.

Yeah like my HYS fan club, which luckily Dennis hasn't stumbled on. Seriously, I don't see the point of one way threads. It kills the debate, and just a bunch of posters breathing out of the same nostril, patting each other on the back without critical analysis of the characters in interest.
