Yeah, but still, his leadership qualities are out there. As for his opinions, I'm not sure how it would factor in, but he was just doing what he's paid to do.

He also tried to finish the guy because Jake's loyalty had him picked "the opposing side". Who is he to decide to end the guy's life despite a betrayal, per se? Clearly, he was all out to kill (as long as you're in his way).
I don't see anything wrong with that. Under my law I'd kill traitorous sons of *****es too.

The Na'Vis were aggressively nature-loving, nature-respectful people, yet in his words, the tribe was defamed as a terrifying bunch of nightmare (which, to an extend, sounded like a "war-engaging" bunch too, IMO). Even if he isn't psycho, he still projects a sicko (pushy) persona, no less. Does he not cast a shadow of a puppet master?

Conclusion, as admirable as a commando he can be, I'm not keen to be his puppet.
I don't think he was talking about the blue skinned freaks so much as he meant the planet as a whole, is hostile. The scars he has on his scalp are clearly from one of the native creatures and not the aliens.

Jake was merely imprisoned at first. There was NO INTENTION to kill him, until he got himself involved in the war and started killing his own kind. The general saw that with his own eyes, and him believing his side was just and right, what kind of impression does Jake give?

To him, Jake did not just betray the team/organisation that was backing this whole little project on Pandora, but the entire human race as a whole. That's quite a big thing. And what is the penalty for treason, or high treason? Jake is no less than a treacherous snake to him, and if history tells us anything, traitors are often treated very harshly. Jake was also not only blocking his way, what Jake did was to block the entire purpose why the humans were there in the first place; so it wasn't all personal.

Jake was a traitor to the humans, and so killing him would be justified to the human team, at least those who did not see things Jake and his team does. Or perhaps if the Na'vi lost, he's not killed? I can imagine a far greater tragedy awaiting Jake then. In that scenario, death could in fact be a kinder fate for him.

The humans and Na'vis simply didn't get along. Humans had also long moved out of that living style, which they now view as barbaric and savage, at least in the movie.

Nobody should be a puppet of the military. Soldiers are taught to obey their orders, but I think if they are given immoral and questionable orders (like killing civilians) then they should not be a puppet to it.

Don't totally agree. However, not moltivated to reply.

You may grasp what I mean if you watch it a fourth time, with reading my observation posted above.

Uh, you got me wrong. I didn't meant puppeting = obeying, neither do I meant the routine of the military system. I just meant, the commando's commanding style alone. çause the big guy oddly reminds me of one other character in a chinese movie, Naked Weapon. Though this and that are pretty off, there's still similarities in nature.

meh so GX needs to watch it four times before you grace her with a motivated reply?

Maybe we need to watch it four times to gain the insight from being brainwashed by tree hugging Na'Vi.

four times!! i'd only watched it once, so im not even qualified to air my opinions then!

anyway, a movie is usually meant for viewing once, and if one pays close attention to it, one would have pretty much noticed everything. yes you will noticed extra stuff upon watching several re-runs no doubt, but I think most of the time, the movie is meant to be watched once, and the impression from only watching once general voiced a more natural opinion than scrunitizing too much ~ till the point you even imagined more hidden meaning than was intended.

i wont watch this again, even though i think its enjoyable to watch....but its not exactly a smart show~the plot is quite simplistic and easy to understand, a few amusing lines but thats it, more like action filled, visually enhancing than a brains-type-of-show.

Uh, I thought it was pretty obvious that I didn't imply a meaning of "a motivated reply" comes only she "watches it a fourth time"? Just that she might capture what was missed out after it was pointed out (without my further explanation).

I'd synthesize my intention into a simple line "empty your cup"! It's either you get brainwashed by the world or the Na'Vi style. Either way, you're brainwashed. Nothing to boost.

You might catch what you missed out if you read more reviews.

The media is making a molehole out of a small matter. Most people prefer watching the 3-D version, and yet that isn't the version the Chinese government is pulling out. The very same media kept quiet for during the time (just recently) when the Philippines pulled down ALL foreign movies to show domestic films. Bet you guys weren't aware of that. Just part of a movement/agenda to make China look stinky.

Avatar is one of the greatest movies of all time.
The interwoven symbolism is very deep. The realism
is spectacular and the story line is eye opening.
Thank you James Cameron for bringing something to
the big screen that is outstandingly entertaining.

Not only its a small matter. But a pointless one. Basically.

Because according to news update a day or two ago, Avatar 2D version is now allowed to be put back on big screen all over China. The news only did Avatar a free promotion. Pretty much.

It's official. Avatar has beaten Titanic record for worldwide. First movie to do so.

And it's well on its way to reaching 2 billion!

    Crazy.

well, the visual effects were good but I didn't like the movie all that much, maybe because it reminded me of the Smurfs lol

I finally saw it today, in IMAX 3D, which was definitely a great experience, even though the actual movie amounted to just what I thought: a predictable done-it-before.

only if you don't adjust for inflation. if you take that into account and the high ticket prices, i don't think it cracks the top 10.

True, but the box office does not take inflation into great comparison. They go for the numbers. Doesn't matter the ticket price, if a movie makes a load, its a load of win.

But it doesn't matter to me though. I get none of that money. lol
