Default Did Ying Goo's "ice palms" really, really suck?

Generally, even a non-Greats fighter can inflict an injury upon a Greats-level fighter if the non-Great is lucky enough to land a good hit on the Great. We saw it happen to Cheung Mo Gei multiple times in HSDS, and to his grandteacher Cheung 3 Fung as well when he was attacked by that faux Shaolin monk. In ROCH, Gwok Jing sustained injuries from the much weaker Lui Mor Singh and Siu Seung Tze as well as the Golden Wheel Monk, and in DGSD, Kiu Fung was wounded by weaker fighters who attacked him en masse at Tsui Yin Manor. Even the almighty Janitor Monk wasn't able to emerge completely unscathed when the relatively weaker Kiu Fung struck him with the Hong Lung 28 Palms.

When Ying Goo attacked Yeung Gor with her ice palms, however, she was unable to inflict any damage whatsoever. She probably could have done more damage by throwing a snowball at him (at least it would have gotten his shirt wet). Given this, I can only conclude that Ying Goo's ice palms must have really, really sucked (despite her having developed them over twenty years).

You're comparing sneak attacks/intentional allowed hits/etc. with an internal energy competition.

In short, Ying Gu's ice palms were launched at an opponent with FAR higher internal energy. she didn't have a chance, since Guo-er knew what was coming.

If she had snuck it on his vital point from behind while he was sleeping, maybe that would have worked better. ZWJ also took impacts from several 'earthshattering' forces without any trouble; palms don't injure superior internal energy if they know it's coming.

In the cases you've listed, they were unanticipated or hits when the person's internal is held up elsewhere. Not quite the same with Ying Gu's case. Pretty sure YG was ready.

In those cases, the great fighter was injured because 1) he was busy fighting other people, thus diverting his attention, or 2) he was sneak-attacked. In most other cases, a significantly weaker fighter cannot do any harm. For example, when the Kongtong elder repeatedly struck Zhang Wuji, or when Bai Zizai repeatedly struck Shi Potian, or when Sun Zhongjun repeatedly struck Yuan Chengzhi.

In ROCH wasn't Ying Goo's martial ability below the level of both Huang Rong and Limochu?

ying gu was below HR, her talents were in her evading hits skill. at most, she was the same level as quanzhen third gen fighters. GJ could take two of their attacks with no reaction.
