DGSD 2003' has a lot of nice visuals, and for me, Xiao Feng's Dragon Palms on Sweeper Monk was truly a spectacular one.

TVB and Wuxia choreography in general makes me weep.

There's not even one martial arts move in adaptations that you like?

I like the description the author gives it. But I don't like the obscene amount of wire-fu and 60s cg put into an adaption. I have high expectations of what qualifies as a good fight scene.

Dragon palms is just CG pictures of golden dragons flying around, then exploding dust.

DG9J has so much potential to be awesome if the choreographer actually knew anything about sword play, owing to the fact that there is no internal energy involved. But no, LHX still does stupid flying crazy stuff.

6MSJ CG lasers, 1YZ, CG lasers again, doesn't impress me.

Call it ego, but I believe I can choreography better fight scenes.

There were some killer moves in SPL, particularly when Wu Jing first shows up.

In Liu Chia-Liang's 1985 movie Disciples of the 36th Chamber, the fights, though short, have reached the peak of perfection in choreography. As Mark Pollard puts it: By this point, [Liu]’s [...] choreography has matured to the point where his execution of each elaborately staged and jaw-dropping action sequence is seamlessly imbedded into the story, always dynamic, and superior to most anything that has followed. The dynamic, fluid execution of the moves makes you believe this is people fighting in real life, not something choreographed for a movie.

    SPL isn't Wuxia though.

    True. I stand corrected.

That alley duel between Wu Jing and Donnie Yen was just classic.

    Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (film)
Michelle Yeoh jumping up the walls of a narrow alleyway to get on the roof.
Michelle Yeoh fighting with the hooked swords, joining them together and swinging them as an extra long sword, then reseparating them into two swords.

Once Upon a Time in China (film)
Jet Li jumping off the inn balcony and opening his umbrella, then gently drifting down.

I've never enjoyed any other combat sequence in a wuxia adaptation more than I have Wong Yeun Sun (Sai Mun Chui Sheut) and Adam Cheng's (Yip Goo Sing) duel in the first adaptation of LUK SIU FUNG.

The moves were nothing fancy, and yet, the sequence remains among the most fun to watch ever...for one thing, it lasted a good eight minutes. You don't have too many continuous, eight-minute combat sequences in wuxia adaptation anymore.

Jet Li vs Donnie Yen in the second Wong Fei Hung film. Both fights were great.

Michelle Yeoh vs Zhang Ziyi in CTHD. Again both fights were great.

    In the cheap tv-cgi category:
Felix Wong as XF. Combination of Felixs acting, XF heroism, the music and cgi dragons worked for me.
You do know that it is just fiction, dont you?

i really liked a scene from one of the latest adaptions of HSDS where SQS uses HL18Z to kill a begger sect member.(yes, not in the novel but was in the adaption i'm talking about). the visual was over the top. the HL18Z was shown so powerful that the light was leached from the area in a series of blackouts. like the force was nuclear. i'm not sure who acted as SQS in which adaption but you might remember.

    Dugu 9 Sword.
I really like Felix when he practiced his Dugu 9 Sword on the beach. His sword play was much better than his other tv serials.

I liked a lot of the fights scenes in Iron Monkey starring Donnie Yen especially the final fight scene on poles

Best move aside, this is more to CG effect.

I find the Stormriders scene where the sword saint (Anthony Wong) fought Xiongba very mesmerizing, as if I was freezed as well.

Another few I could think of, in the TVB Twin Brothers, there are lots of great CG effects on the fight scenes.

Felix Wong's Dragon Palms in DGSD 97, even with the bad cgi he manages to make it so cool.

Duan Yu vs Murong Fu and Duan Yu vs Evil #4 in DGSD, in the second or third to last episode. It has an excellent "OMG" factor as you get to see what 6MSJ is really capable of. Also I like how they handle the part where DY moves from the wall to the door after MRF is sent flying out the door, without any special effects they give the impression that DY has godlike speed.

Also Once Upon a Time in China, both fights between Wong Fei Hong and the Imperial commander. Especially when WFH uses the No shadow kick.
    Reverend Rongku prepared himself.

Suddenly, he toss his hands and screamed: "I am not human! I am an animal!"

The crowd startled at such a bizarre beginning to the story.

Maybe I'm just jaded but the first clip with DY floating and swinging about above MRF is rather a special effects failure in my eyes. Not only does it look like DY is flying, but the swaying makes it feel like he really is swinging from a wire =(
