I've noticed a recent trend of posters bumping up older threads just to keep them on the front page. Please: if you want to keep a thread active, add some constructive comments or questions that will naturally reactivate interest in the subject. If a thread has been inactive for a long time, it probably means that people have lost interest in discussing the subject. Let it pass. If the subject becomes of interest again, someone will naturally restart it.

OK, but when bumping, add something new and constructive to the discussion. Bumping for bumping's own sake seems like a waste of bandwidth, especially if the thread just withers again after the bumping (which is usually the case).

If Xiao Long Nu were not written to be the alabaster skinned ethereal beauty she was in the novel, I wouldn't really be so intrigued by her. Superficial much? Yes, and proud.

My interpretation on Yang Guo is clouded by Huang Xiao Ming's most recent portrayl of said character. I'm too young to remember the other YG actors clearly (though I know they were all fine specimens of male) and don't care enough about this particular novel to watch the others. I'm a Gu Long fan myself. Huang Xiao Ming is hot; Huang Xiao Ming as Yang Guo was hot but sadly utterly obnoxious and smug. Thus, Yang Guo is hot but utterly obnoxious and smug. I guess that means that how I feel about YG doesn't really differ from how I feel 'bout XLN. If they weren't uber hot, I wouldn't like either.

Last night, just by chance, I examined this thread again and asked myself, "Does it need to be revived presently?"

This morning, however, I check the forums and see that some poor souls *still* labor under the errant assumption that these Icons of Ick are worthy of sympathy.

As I said, I wasn't sure that I could resist the temptation. And I could not. So here it goes just this once:
If you think getting a right arm chopped off, seeing your loved one killed in front of you, your love torn away from you, have your innocent taken away, and finally having your loved one taken away from you for 16 years of your prime is getting away with it all, then sure then don't deserve it. Let me see someone who suffered that much, then I'll let them get away with lots of things. In the society they lived in, when both of them could be together, both of them had became damaged goods: the man with one arm, the girl is not pure.

Sure, wuxia is to a great extent defined by protagonists who would get very high scores in most Mary Sue litmus tests, but with YG and XLN Jin Yong really went overboard.
"Getting away with everything" in this context means - acting like a dumbass/jackass, bringing much of your misfortune on your own head, being badly written and coming out of it all with the aura of a saint.
