I conceived this idea of creating such a thread from the daily quiz of Restaurant City. It may consists of cooking culture practice by the different races, or knowledge such as, eg. "Hors D’oeuvres is French for?", "A tomato is a?".
Be it a unique tradition (of a country, race) or not, please contribute your knowledge to this webbase! Every contribution counts. For the food-lovers, throw a burning question about a food culture that you want to know. People may also run us a short history about a certain dish's origin.
- I have a few here: Dulce de leche is prepared by heating Sweetened Milk.
- Marzipan is made from Almonds. ~ I think it's an Indian desert.
- The chuck is found FRONT on the cow.
- Steak tartare is a meat dish made from raw Beef (thanks to PJ, I answered this correctly after he shared with us a picture of the dish. The fear factor made the dish unforgetable for me )
FYI, Hors D’oeuvres is Appetitzers in French.
***Credits to PJ for suggestion of the thread title.
