Sometimes, when you made mistakes at work and you try to cover up, that feeling of burying the error can be as exciting as handing your report card to your papa when you were a kiddo.
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!
I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?
i never felt excitement when handing my report card to my parents though. its like, the thing you need to do at the end of every school term. in those days my teachers often described me as 'dreamy', 'out of the real world' ~ then again, i never attempt to bury my mistakes at work, if i found out, i'll just rectify it and move on, if its grave enough, i inform the people involved of the mistake.
o wilku mowa...♪
The only thing I need to know is that I don't know anything.

nytimes: Every hr you have 10 minutes where you’re not doing anything productive at work, & you can’t look at porn. So you make a comment & fulfill this desire to show yourself off as a smarty-pants.
I work as new model testing engineer. Pretty much testing the new stuff before it gets approved to start mass production.
I can't lie if I made mistake. Can't cover it up either.
1) If I find out about it before my customer knows, it's WAY better for me & my company. We can re-do the testing ourselves & then do countermeasures then figure out how to tell the customer. If it involves changing material or design, we definitely have to tell them because we have to change drawings. We have 2 options : tell them the truth that something failed or lie to them that we have costdown idea to change material/design It's all depends on how big the screw up is though.
2)My customer usually runs testing (as in the finish product) same time as all its suppliers. So most of the time they will also find out about it. If they know before us, life will be very painful for my company specially me since I'll be the one that have to redo everything. It will be hundreds of re-testing and re-testing and re-testing, millions of their visits/audits, etc etc.
3)If both me/my company & my customer missed the problem until it launched mass production, then we're screwed. Either some kind of accidents can happen (then big warranty problems come along with it) or the government will catch it during their random testing (if we are unlucky. And that happened before). This could lead to recall which will involve a lot more testing, lost of future business, stay under government watchful eyes for a long time & big money loss to pay the replacement product cost.
See, so I would definitely admit it if I did something wrong. And so far, I've been lucky enough to avoid big mistakes.
I learn from them, try not to make the same ones again, and move on.
I have never made any mistakes in my 1-year working time!
I've just started my first ever work experience (part time since I'm still a university student) and I've made several mistakes already. I fear the manager hates me already and would sack me.
You're fired.

I heard some bosses can be the unreasonable type; unwilling to give second chances etc and might tell me to leave if they find a better replacement. Hope my manager isn't that type lol.
