I hope the chinese government continues embracing the asian culture. They should not accept cultural genocide just to please the wests. As for myself, if they are legal, I would eat dog but not cat.

Seems like cat stew is a Tuscan delicacy that nobody except for this cooking show host was willing to acknowledge openly. So eating pets is not totally an Asian cultural thing. Perhaps this cooking show host should protest that he is not willing to accept cultural genocide just to please the wests, oops but he is from the West!

Although, this reminds me of the most akward onversation I ever had with my mother who is a buddhist and knows alot about buddhism, enlightment and other customs.

She told me I can't ever eat dog meat, turtle meat, pig blood etc because they are extremely yin, so I was like sure no problem, then she dropped the bomb on me and said 'you can't ever eat p*ssy either, that's the epitome of Yin' and proceeded to ask me how many salads I had tossed and how often...

So yeah, I'll prolly never eatdog meat to even certain things out
    oh shit this is funny!

If the cooking show host wants to preserve his culture, then he should promote and advocate about eating pet meats. If people in other countries accuse him of that, then he can accuse them of trying to genocide his culture. I think most people here know about the french people eating horse meat, something the people in china don't eat (correct me if I am wrong). If people from other countries protest about it, then they should be accused of trying commit cultural genocide against the french people. I have never ate horse meat before and probably never will. However, I acknowledge that is the french culture and I am not going to protest it just because I don't eat it.

The seriousness of certain crimes are undermined when the terms/names are used in a trivialising manner.

My argentinian friend told me that cat is also a delicacy in his place. so i agree, its not an Asian thing.

In the musical Sweeney Todd, Mrs. Lovett sang "putting pussies into pies" (its not all that innovative as one thinks, regarding cat-consumption)

If the dogs are raised as livestock to be eaten, I don't have a problem with it. I do, however, have a problem with eating animals that are raised as pets.
If the dog is raised as a family animal to be part of the family it feels wrong to eat. Same goes for any animal, cat/fish/pig/cow/hamster/etc.
If a cow is raised as beef to be eaten, then it's okay, but if it were a pet and loved then it's not okay to eat. I would never think of eating the fish in my aquarium, but I will eat fish I buy in markets that are caught for food.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

It's up to individual to decide what to eat as long as it does not against the law of the land. As long as it doesn't against the law, then I don't care if people eat pork, beef, fish, dog, cat, polar bear, panda bear, tiger, lion, monkey, turtle, snake, shark fin, whale, ect...

You have every right to not eat dog meat, it's your freedom to choose and power to act. No one can force you to do things against your will.
