Default Movies that left a scarr in your head

What is the movie that freaked you out, or in some ways it leaves an impact in your mind? Be it due the reasons that you feel yourself in there or because of that movie, you refrain from doing something (say, eating fish)....or something that runs along those lines (you know what I mean). Maybe you want/like to watch them but you just refused to because it gives you that "ouch"/sad feeling that you withdrawn yourself from it. OR, because of that movie, you stop or start a habit.

    28 Weeks Later.
    Made of Honor.
Resident Evil. (got no problem with the rest of franchise 'cos they even barely stirr my interest)

I was devastated by Juon the Grudge, the Japanese movie. Had no problem with other horror movies before, but this one was too creepy. For months afterward, I had trouble sleeping and went to bed with the light on. I also refused to watch horror movies since then.

I think I may be better prepared for horror movies now

Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake - watching that movie, the atmosphere became too much for me. I couldn't help but imagine myself being thrown onto meat hooks and dying slowly

The Ammytiville Horror remake - I think this one was good in terms of psychological thriller. I can't remember why now as it's been a few years but it creeped me out. I remember the scene with the babysitter and the closet was scary for me when I watched.

Saw - Tried putting myself in my victims shoes. I couldn't bear to cut out my own eye to retrieve a key.

You know a great way to deal with this is to imagine yourself as a superhero in these situations.

OK. To deal with Leatherface, picture yourself as Batman. Leatherface might be good at cutting up regular people, but if he tries to chainsaw the freaking BATMAN, he's in for a world of pain. He's up against the world's best martial artist, who also has a utility belt loaded with dozens of high-tech weapons. Leatherface is screwed.

Picture yourself as Superman. Nothing the ghosts can throw at you can harm you, and one blast of heat vision incinerates the house.

Saw - Tried putting myself in my victims shoes. I couldn't bear to cut out my own eye to retrieve a key.
You're Green Lantern...you are in possession of the most powerful weapon in the universe - capable of igniting or shutting down suns. This weapon is limited only by your imagination: if you can imagine it, you can accomplish it.

Kind of pointless to watch a horror movie and try to defeat it just so that it doesn't scare you.
I like horror movies because they can almost never fail because they try so hard. Either it works and you walk away feeling freaked out and marvel at how much atmosphere and context can affect the mind.
Or they're really hard, but still fail. In which case it becomes hilarious, yes I'm looking at you Jason Voorhees.
But cheers for the superhero plugs. I would put the Cheerleader from Heroes in the chainsaw massacre though. She'll freak out Leatherface. I would put Arcade or the puppet master with Saw. Dr Strange can go in the Ammytiville house.

Even the deepest scar has left my head...

There was this old Hong Kong horror movie that had me looking up at the toilet's ceilings for YEARS, just to ensure some creepy monster isn't crouching up there waiting to pounce on me.

The next would be Johnny Depp's "Sleepy Hollow". The dead knight's face, especially his filed teeth kept coming back to my mind. But that didn't last very long... so I supposed I'm not that scarred as compared to the first.

    I'm completely healed already. Hmm...

    can't think of any...

the real reason why i dont dig most horror flicks is, they spent way too much time to 'scare' you and it doesn't contribute enough to storyline. those with a good storyline are the only ones worth watching.

i tend to find most horror/thriller fics boring.

i watched a scary hk movie when i was about 4 that freaked me out. i don't know what my parents were thinking, letting me watch. -_- it was fairly generic actually. a woman dressed in red jumps out her window with her kid. they haunt the apartment building. new people move in decades later. ppl start dying all around. one dead body was all clawed up. hided buddhist monk to cleanse. he dies and you think the ghosts are gone, but final scene shows that the ghost is still here!!! yeah, generic but hella scary for a 4 yr living in an apartment building.

I've imagined a clash of horror figures with wuxia heroes. Like what would happen if the dead wife from Juon the Grudge tried to haunt Xiao Feng, and he threw a XL18Z at her. Or if the dead girl from Shutter tried to sit on top of Yu Daiyan's shoulder, all he would have to do is activate some internal energy which would raise his body temperature to beyond tolerable, even the ghost might scream and jump off, might even burn her dress. Ghost On Fire!

I think the word "unprepared" would be exactly the word to use for me when I watched Resident Evil (the first one). Thanks to the wonderful sound system in theatre, the clear sounds of zombies munching down a SWAT guy alive, after they dragged him into a lift (which was greatly mistaken for an escape route) freaked me out. Not to mention the hopeless cry from the dying guy. And that was just the beginning. The rest of my emotions switched to fear mode from there. My emotions became too fragile to handle the rest of the movie.

I had wanted to watch this. Maybe I should. It might just replace my current scar with its horror.

    What happened there? =O

28 Weeks Later. - the part starts from Don fighting the virus (passed from kissing his wife), and finally succumbed to the "rage", and ran amok. He then went to his wife, who is strapped on the chair/bed and gouged out her eye.

Made of Honor. - it's not horror but the sadness that I felt from parts of the movie which kinda relate to my situation.

A family died in the house some years prior. The new family hires a babysitter who also babysat for the previous family. The little girl in the dead family was shot in the head. The little girl of the new family has an imaginary friend, little do they know it's the dead girl.
The babysitter tells the kids about the dead family, one of the kids dares her to go in the closet while the little girl warns her that
'it's going to make her mad'
The babysitter goes in the closet, and it automatically closes and won't open even though there's no lock. The lights start to flicker and go out while the babysitter starts getting nervous when she sees the teddybear of the dead girl. Then the dead girl appears behind her, smiling grabs her hand and pushes the babysitters finger through the hole in her head while the babysitter freaks out.

There was an old medieval movie that had me scarred for a while. It had some of the most graphic and disturbing scenes in it, one where those poor knights are being eaten alive whilst dangling helplessly from the trees in this murky forest. I won't go into details about what happens next, so I'll stop here.

I wished I had gone to bed sooner that night.

That sounds like something I might like. Do you recall the title of the movie?

Pembie, that's totally disturbing for a kid of age that tender!

Bubbles, I'd have become a vegan if I'd ever watch that.

Another movie that take a scary toll in my mind is a HK horror movie, The Circus (Zhou4 Le4 Yuan2). It's a circus that has been cursed forever ever since a kid fall off from Wonder Wheel. The circus closed down (after incidents of death, I think) and the place became haunted. I caught the last part of the movie once and was completely disturbed by it. Another time that movie screen on TV, I was too chicken to challenge it by watching so I heard the movie instead, while doing my revision. Still, I helplessly imagine what had happened since I was curious enough to read it up.

Then, it was that same time that I watched the TVB's Feng Shen Bang, and I tried hard to overcome that fear by imagining Ne Zha had came down to kick that evil angry spirit's arse, who haunted that circus.

The title of this movie is Excalibur, and it's named after that magical sword.

Actually, I thought you might be referring to Excalibur - the tree and the knights hanging on it are a powerful image and your description made it pop up in my mind immediately. That "eaten alive" part confused me - I don't recall any such thing (unless you meant eaten by ravens).
In any case, I was right when I wrote that it looked like my cup of cinematic tea - because I love Excalibur.

As for movies that left me scarred for a prolonged period of time - I remember that when I was a kid, after I saw C.H.U.D. (a flick about mutants who lived in the sewers and every now and then crawled out and killed and ate people) the sight of a sewer lid was one of the most frightening things for me - and it lasted pretty long. If I didn't have to, I wouldn't go anywhere near any sewer hole back then.
And to be honest, even now, when out in the streets during night time, I sometimes look at sewer lids with a lot of suspicion and distrust...

Carrie - I think I saw the end of that movie when I was like 10 years old. It was pretty creepy.

This girl is standing over a grave, the cross over it has written on it "Carrie White burns in hell". Then a hand reaches up and grabs the girl, and she wakes up screaming endlessly and traumatised.
