My Wuxia HATE Manifesto

To mix a metaphor, I need to let it all hang out and get it off my chest.

1. Obviously, I *hate* Yeung Gor, Little Dragon Girl, Lam Chiu Ying, Granny Sheun, and the entire Ancient Tomb Sect in general. It's telling that the one I hate the least among them is the evil one, Lee Mok Sau. Lee was about the only one I could stand.

2. I *hate* what Jin Yong did to Central Divinity Wong Chung Yeung and the Cheun Jen Sect in ROCH (and a little bit in LOCH because he made one of the great Taoist sages of history look like a hotheaded fool).

3. I *hate* what Jin Yong did to Gwok Jing's reputation by portraying his daughter Gwok Fu so poorly.

4. I *hate* the Mary Sue that Jin Yong turned Gwok Seung into to compensate for Gwok Fu.

5. I *hate* that at the end of the CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY, Gwok Jing wasn't the # 1 undisputed martial artist of all time.

6. I *hate* that everyone believes that the martial arts of DGSD and SMILING PROUD WANDERER are *so* much better than those of the CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY.

7. I *hate* Dook Goo Kau Bai and his so-called "invincible" sword techniques.

8. I *hate* Sad Palms. Lamest martial art ever.

9. I don't quite *hate* the Janitor Monk, but I do *hate* that there's no combination of Elites and Greats who can beat him.

10. I *hate* the "universe-inverting," "time-stopping" martial arts of the Gu Long universe.

11. I *hate* that Sai Mun Chui Sheut is always thought of so lowly as a swordsman despite his many glorious victories.

12. I *hate* that Cantonese translations of wuxia names get no respect.

13. I *hate* that 1970s and 1980s TVB adaptations of wuxia novels get no respect.

14. I *hate* people putting pressure on me to do things I don't want to do.

The last time I hate so many hatreds burning at one, I had to quit wuxia fandom for eleven years. I sure hope it doesn't come down to that again.

15. I *hate* castration martial arts (or any martial art that makes male practitioners look or literally turn girly).

16. I *hate* mush in wuxia (on the other hand, when I occasionally use it in my GUNDAM fanfic, it's OK because I do it *way* better).

17. I don't quite *hate* the revenge plot in wuxia, but it is way overused.

18. I actually like Lee Chum Foon's dagger technique, but I *hate* how Gu Long describes how it works (because it's such BS).

Anyway, Sai Moon Chui Shuet had a pretty GL-esque display of martial arts in Ngun Ngou Do Cheung when he dispatched some high-level fighter at the end. His opponent charged him when he had no sword in hand ... the result being his opponent impaled himself with his own sword. A kind of quirky interpretation of 'Overcoming the sword without a sword' (using the opponent's sword).

to counter-balance, here are my wuxia *loves* -- dunno if i can list 18, though. kidd, help me!

1. i *love* how chow bak tung is the perfect foil to the 5 greats.

2. i *love* that wong yeuk see hates political correctness and has SUCH kindifference.

3. i *love* sai-mun chui suet.

4. i *love* that luk siu fung has such a fantastic friend in fa mun lau.

5. i *love* the fact that michelle yim and damian lau have portrayed the leads in one of the best-written wuxia stories of all time, PZXYL.

6. i *love* that kwok seung is the perfect combination of her parents, even if she couldn't possibly exist in real life.

7. i *love* pissing the mando speakers off with cantonese transliterations. :P

8. i find it absolutely hilarious that yeung gor can create such a huge chasm between supports and haters. i *love* being on one side of that chasm.

9. i *love* DGSD more than condors trilogy.

10. i *love* GL's sarcasm.

Doesn't matter if the girl is a Tsundere on TsunTsun mode by default and all time who nagged non stop making you ear stings, making you thinks that they got PMS the whole month wakakaka. When you drive them from POINT A to POINT B, there is no need to turn on the radio, coz their mouth is an enough replacement . It's like those machine-gun that doesn't stop lol.

Or a high maintenance girl who asking for things the whole time, making you bankrupt and doesn't want to go away like a fly whatever you do .

Yeah, I've never hated Yeung Hong at all. In fact, the dude is kind of cool in his own evil way.

The only thing I'd possibly hate Yeung Hong for is siring Yeung Gor, but other than that, I don't have much reason to hate the guy. I even sort of sympathize with the predicament he was in during LOCH.
