Default Films where "the bad guys" win (spoilers!)

In the majority of films, the protagonist comes out on top, but what are some movies in which the tables end up turned?

Feel free to add to the list:

    The Usual Suspects
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
    Memento
    Hannibal
    Rosemary's Baby
    Arlington Road
    Se7en
    Primal Fear
    Saw
    The Empire Strikes Back
    Secret Window
    Chinatown
    Raise the Red Lantern
    Funny Games

This rarely happens in kung fu movies, but one rare instance where it happened--notoriously--is in the 1983 Shaw Brothers movie Usurpers of the Emperor's Power. The movie ended with the good guys being slain by the bad guys, and the bad guys laughing off. It's a particularly offbeat ending because when the "heroes" died, there wasn't any sad or heroic music playing, or a long take or slow motion focusing in on them, or anything like that; they just died and the movie was like: "we don't care".

    Another one: Lust Caution.

Shaolin Mantis (telling a good guy from a bad guy is a difficult matter when it comes to that film, but pretty much *everyone* who can be at one point or the other considered a good guy dies in the end, while the one indisputable villain wins).

Il grande silenzio (The Great Silence) - one of the best (if not the best - sorry, Sergio) spaghetti westerns I have seen. There exists an alternative good ending, but I have never seen that one - the original ending is very bleak, with the bad guys (and they really are the bad guys of the most despicable sort) walking off without any sort of punishment and with the loot.

Donnie Yen's character died but Sammo's character lived even though he lost his wife and son.

Death Note. In my mind, Light will always have won. Stupid must make good-triumph-over-evil plot.

    Correct me if I'm wrong:

"Mr. Brooks" with Kevin Costner and Demi Moore
"Versus" with Tak Sakaguchi...of course we didn't know this until later!
"The Talented Mr. Ripley" Matt Damon! Amazing soundtrack!
    "Jeepers Creepers" ugh
"House of 1000 Corpses" Rob Zombie duh
"The Skeleton Key" with Kate Hudson, freaky
"Zodiac"[?] Jake Gyllenhal? Pretty dark and based on a true story

    ...goes to check movie collection..

I think one and three are correct in my vague memory. Yes, Jake Gyllenhal and Robert Downey Jr (as Paul something....)

I wanna catch Jeepers Creepers, forgot about this movie totally!

The Prestige - sort of. It depends on whom you see as the lesser of two evils and how you define "win."

Pet Cemetery? That old horror film, right? If that's the one, I've watched that when I was younger.

It's Pet Sematary. And yes, it's an old horror film based on an old Stephen King novel.
