Thansks devilz for this wonderful translation!!!!

I'll be saving this as part of my growing collection of wushu novels.

On a sidenote, I'm kinda of disappointed that the ending is so short!
An anti-climax to the build-up - sort of like a rushed ending.

I agree. I wanted to see more of Hua Tiegan and Wang Xiaofeng instead of just having them conveniently poisoned at the end. More of Shui Sheng would be great too.

lol. I would probably have to start reading it first, and that'll take a very long time.

That's fine. But I posted an edited version in the unabridged thread. I dunno how to make .epub files. If you have time maybe you could make an .epub of the updated version? That would be nice.

Default I saw this ending comming

    Thank you devilz.

my favorit part of this noval was when Di Yuan was in jail with Ding Dan

they had some happy times together despite the harsh conditions.

I would have enjoyed it if Di Yaun got both girls... in my opinion with his internal energy and all

    lolz

Splendid translation and thank you for the unabridged version! Yes, I agree that the ending seemed forced in conveniently wiping out all the villains. Would've liked to see even more development and enhancement of Qi Zhangfa's character after being MIA nearly the entire story.

So how did Shui Sheng ever managed to return back to the cave? Did she suddenly acquire new martial arts to hunt eagles? Even with archery, I can hardly see how she can live year round on poultry, unless she brought a herd of horses. heheh

She never left. Presumably the valley is a lot more abundant outside of Winter.

Wow devilz91, you are absolutely incredible. Are you the only translator on this forum who translated an entire Jin Yong novel on your own (and in just one year too)? Although I prefer reading the original text first, I think I'll just jump right into your translation soon. Many thanks.

I think she did leave, as it was shown at the end of chpt 8. Di Yun stayed for another month or so after everyone left before he left as well. Shui Sheng prolly came back after she was treated really poorly @ home. But seems really stupid that she would actually wait for Di Yun to come back like that. Is she really gonna wait for 10 years? If Qi Fang never died she'd be stuck there for a while.

As for food problems, probably only a few months have passed so it's still late summer or autumn, the valley is probably unsealed. If the valley was sealed then Shui Sheng would be waiting in vain, since Di Yun can't come in anyway. So she'd probably have to move out during winter? idk Really sucks for Water Spinach though, she has to spend the rest of her life in some stupid valley?

Yeah, probably, if you don't include the short stories. But it's only 12 chapters so it's not that long. Foxs already has like 21 chapters on DOMD so I'm nowhere close to his speed.

Yeah, I feel for Water Spinach. Would totally suck living the most basic lifestyle in a valley with no other human contact. Her clothes will probably be made of animal skins and bird feathers. No education or friends.

It was never mentioned what happened to her once she separated with di yun. (that's why the series adaption is better, where the viewer sees that she had a hard time).

She probably thought it's better to live (or die) secluded than be called a ***** who abandoned her father for her rapist. Without anything to lose, her "best" place would be the cave.

If di yun comes back, the better, if not she'd probably just die there not bothering about food. (but if she just want to live secluded, she could just gather and dry food in the summer and such.)

As for water spinach, she'd be fine. Remember that her mom and her new foster dad were peasants anyway. And now her foster dad is the world strongest. Her new foster mom is a young and well educated. Not too shabby for a kid. It beats being a rich girl in a stuck up home with a wicked grandfather and father. I don't think she had many friends her age anyway.

Am I the only one who think the ending is kinda rushed and unbalanced? Not really jinyong worthy. What happens to the treasure? Others find it and dies because of the poison? And the connection with dodm feels kinda forced...

Thanks for the translation. I know that it must be really hard work.

I agree that the series adaptation has a lot better flow and continuity with Shui Sheng and Di Yun actually had some interactions helping each other settle their issues after they got out of the snow cave (SS being rejected by her people and DY with his vengeance). It also made the snow cave as a "mere" meeting place between SS and DY, rather than the ultimate living place.
