Oh, I see, you've read the entire trilogy, wow. It must have taken months.

Gu Long's style is really different from Jin Yong's, but I found Legendary Siblings to be extremely enjoyable. Have fun with that.

Huh, against forum guidelines? The first four chapters of DGSD have been available in plain text for years. Other completed works like the Condor trilogy and A Deadly Secret have also been posted in PDF. And I'm very slow but DGSD is actually currently being translated by yours truly.

Default Translation Suggestion/Request: 武道狂之詩 (Blood and Steel)

I recently started reading the English scanslation of this Hong Kong comic 武道狂之詩.
The English translation of the title is Blood and Steel.
Found out that this was originally a novel, and later adapted to comic form.
    Summary/Description:
The story begins with an eradication of Qing-cheng by a group of martial art fanatic from Wudong, whose master and disciples only has one belief – to become the strongest in the world. In order to maintain their supremacy, they take over all the other martial arts group and kill those refuse to yield themselves to them.

Yan Heng, a young swordman in Qing-cheng, was saved by ‘Wudang Hunter' Jing Lie, who also lost his fellows because of Wudong. Being the only remnant of their groups, the two allied and start their journey of revenge.
So far I've read 9 chapters of the comic and I love it, can only imagine the original novel would be 10x better. Please make it happen guys!

Hi folks, this may be a little off topic considering that this is a wuxia forum, but considering that there are many good translators lurking around, I thought I'll take a gamble with my request.

To cut the long story short, I'm a fellow translator who translates mainly poems, lyrics, short fiction (no wuxia though). Currently I'm looking for guest translators to contribute to my blog at http://musicalpoems.wordpress.com/

Initially, I created this blog as a online portfolio of sort to house my writings, but right now I'm keen to grow the site further, with guest translators to manage their own projects, to be posted on the site. I'm doing this purely for the readers, so that they can read more quality translations.

Anyway you may read my post here if you're interested in working with me
    http://musicalpoems.wordpress.com/20...t-translators/

    Thanks~
    Cheers~

Red face Swordsman Journey by Gu Long : request for chapters 1-3 and chapters 53 - 59

Will someone please translate " Swordsman Journey" by Gu Long chapters 1-3 and chapters 53 - 59 .... i got the translation from wuxiasociety.org
[ http://wuxiasociety.org/forum/viewto...?t=764&start=0 ] by some wuxia enthusiast Yufeng back in 2007 , who translated the entire story singlehandedly( most commendable http://www.spcnet.tv/forums/images/smilies/hatoff.gif ) ...unfortunately, some constraints probably caused Yufeng to skip these chapters to give us a hurried end in chapter 62( brief synopsis of chapters 1-3 was provided but no clues about chapters 53-59 were given ). Now i have started reading this story ( i'm enjoying it...) , i've reached chapter 25 but i am dreading that the ending will spoil this story for me ... please anyone? http://www.spcnet.tv/forums/images/smilies/doggy.gif

Question Which wuxia novel would you most like translated?

Although my focus for the moment is on shorter wuxia works, I think it would be nice to get a novel going as well. The question is, which novel?

So tell me, if you could have any one wuxia novel translated, what would it be?

oh, you're right. for some reason, when i skimmed through it, i thought it was unfinished. i read it initially when the original translator started the thread and since it took forever for another person (the ever so kind and wonderful fox) to pick up the book, i've been waiting for it to finish to restart it (i prefer to read completed works instead of waiting for updates).

well, i've been hoping someone would finish what abhay started.

Whiteskwirl, Thanks for all the stories translated.. Translators can able to read any novel and it's there personal choice to read and translate whatever they feel like..and post..

As a reader what we expect is to finish the novel.. There are many pending novels.. and if somebody finishes them we will be very much grateful.. ( And i thank deeply from my heart for foxs because he finished most of the unfinished novels - And also other translators who pick up the translations started by somebody ).. ( Starting a new novel is good but if u don't finish or could not finish or something comes in between - It's not translators mistake but we crave for what happens next and will be worrying about it.. ) So i request you to pick up any novel which is pending rather than starting new .. list is Step into the past, DGSD, Luxiafeng book 5 mansion of spirits, Huang yi's novels -Moon demon, Two dragons, or sword of thrid master..

Default which novel would I like tranlated.

I concur with the littleli. Although I tend to read the novels after they are completed. The first novel I read was Athena's Gu Long novel, The Sword and the Exquisiteness a few years ago. I have been reading the completed translations ever since. I read Fairie Queene's and Foxs' translation of Baifa Monu Zhuan twice. I like them all. If I had a choice I would say, help the translator finish his/her translation.

I have also read the wuxia translations that have been published in book form. These include the Jin Yong and Gu Long books and one book by Huanzhulouzhu. I enjoy them all.

I also learn a lot from the comments made by the readers and translators in the forum. I continue to be amazed by the work done here in this forum in particular and in other forums.

Hi. I don't expect you to finish any novel. Just do it at your leisure/ as long as you enjoy it.

As for which novel I would like to see translated, my vote goes to Ying Xiong Zhi ( Heroic Chronicles ) by Sun Xiao.

Here's a brief summary of that novel that REALLY piqued my interest.

It would be great if spcnet.tv can setup a "Collaborative Translation System/Server" either on this server or linked to somewhere else where what has been translated and what needs translated are easily accessed & viewed. Translations can be easily "moderated/fixed" with great ease and in real-time. Translators won't have to work offline.
Translation tools are usually easily accessible as well and we have the untranslated portions side by side. Forum based translation just seems not as user-friendly. Especially when a translator decides to take a long break.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. For everyone who hasn't responded, I would love to hear your thoughts as well.

@BlackRaven: It sounds like an interesting novel, but it's so long. That would be biting off more than I can chew at the moment to try to tackle such a long novel.

    Dear whiteskwirl,

these two novels come to my mind which I am eager to read (but am unable to do with my knowledge of chinese at the moment):

"Xiao Shi Yi Lang Part 2" by Gu Long (火併蕭十一郎) because I liked the first part. (http://www.eslite.com/product.aspx?p...01112631846932)

"The 8th Copper Man in Shaolin" by Giddens Ko (少林寺第八銅人 by 九把刀) - I read the comic version they made out of this novel and I would like to read the original. And as this is a "new" author, it would maybe fit the profile of your homepage as well? (http://www.eslite.com/product.aspx?p...01131181709441)

But I am happy with everything you translate. You do an awesome job!
