    Default Dubya to visit Taiwan

Taiwan had to ask for Beijing's permission? WTH? Taiwan is slowly moving towards a de facto "1 Country, 2 Systems" China. Taiwan can be an observor to the WHA, but it does not have a vote. What is more precious to a Democracy than the right to vote? How is Taiwan becoming any different than Hong Kong or Macau?

Taiwanese diplomacy with other nations has always been a sensitive issue to China. Why would Taiwan purposely irritate the Great Power next door, when the current Taiwanese administration favors peace with China.

And unless I'm terribly mistaking, unification is exactly where Taiwan is headed under its current leadership.

It does appear that way. I'm 100% for closer ties to Chinaa and I supported presidential candidate Ma, but it's becoming more and more clear that Ma Ying-jeou is moving towards unification which is something he has said he wouldn't do. Thankfully, as a Democracy, the Taiwanese can kick his *** out of office and elect someone that will move more slowly, that will protect Taiwan's Democracy.
