    Default Is this possible?

    I tried looking this up but I still don't understand. Science people help me out here...

    Mom's bloodtype is AB. Dad's bloodtype is A. Is it possible to have a B bloodtype child? It seems like it should be. I exist afterall...What are the possibilities of having type A, B, O, or AB children by this couple?

    I am a proud donor of B-positive.

    I'm not so inclined in science, and my knowledge in this part of science (genetics) is average. From myunderstanding, O is definitely out of the picture given that there's only AB and A blood in the line.

    If you're certain that you belong to the B blood group, then I can only explain that it is inherited by your mom.

    I hope I'm addressing to your query.
    What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

    Your dad is probably AO in this situation.

    AB + AO = AA (A), AO (A), AB, BO (B)

    I used to be interested in blood type due to my mum's insistence that my sibling and I had the same blood type as her, when it was quite impossible from a scientific pov.

    In my family, no one has the same blood type.
    AB + O = AO + BO

    O - not a chance
    AB - 1/4 chance
    B - 1/4 chance
    A - 1/2 chance

    Possible combination of alleles
    AB => type AB
    AA => type A
    AO => type A
    BO => type B

    A person can only be type O if both alleles are type O.

    Thanks all!

    I'm the only child of type B blood in my immediate family. Both of my brothers, like my Dad, are type A. It's good to know that if I should ever need a blood transfusion that time should not be wasted testing my immediate family members.

    I used to be deeply interested in blood type profiling, but this didn't last very long because I'm easily distracted. Apparently, it's not so great to be a B blood type person....lol. I think I'm pretty darn nifty.

    What's so bad about a B blood person?

    No possibility at all.

    Dad- blood group A, Allelles AA or AO
    Mum- Blood group O, Alleles OO

    Possibilities, AO or OO = Blood group A or Blood group O.

    Is the dad a different person then?

    Nope. In this case the child can only be A or O.

    If the dad's blood consist of 2 allele A, the child can only be type A.

    Dad: AA (A)
    Mom: OO (O)
    Child: AO (A)

    Dad: AO (A)
    Mom: OO (O)
    Child: AO (A) or OO (O)
