    Neither.
It is not as long as ROCH and LOCH, but it is certainly longer than a "short story".
    21 chapters, to be exact.

Wow! That was a fine ride, thank you Huang Yushi.

JY is the best martial art writer. There is no question about that.

Thanks HuangYushi! Great translation... SPW is one of the most interesting to watch as he gets to fumble around.

I love this story- I think it has the most irony and comedy out of the jin yong novels I read, definitely one of the funniest for me personally because of the bizarre characters

I feel like such a spoiled child wanting candy; the last chapter was just so good that I just want more!

    Thumbs up

Thanks to Ian and HYS for doing a great job translating this delightful novel,I m pleasantly surprise that JY has another funny novel other than Duke of Mount Deer.

It seems Xie Yanke is a ripoff from HYS from Loch/Roch,both are eccentrics, wore green robe and knew Divine flicking fingers(may not be the same but still the same name lol).

Updates are dependant on the amount of work I have to do in real-life. More work means a longer gap between updates; less work means a shorter one.

Xia Ke Xing / Ode to Gallantry - Chapter 8

If you are wondering what happened to Shi Potian after he vanished from the dilapidated yellow-walled temple on the shore of the Long River, find out in Chapter 8 of Ode to Gallantry today!

But, be prepared for the *twist* that follows! :-D

PS: The Facts and Figures of OTG have been updated as well, with a few new martial arts techniques and a very elegant weapon. Check it out!

Cool! Have not read it yet, I will be sure to post something....

Has been a while since I last read it (maybe I should read it all again ^^)

    -edit

Just finished reading!!!! What happened? she suddenly decides to kill SPT? But then again he is the main character and thus can never die unless it is at the very end. Nevertheless, how will SPT escape? It was particularly funny how SPT said that he did not want to hurt anybody with his martial arts ^^. Ding Busan is funny too "so you are an clever moron"

Ding Dang is has just had a mental backflip " How can he be a true man if he can look at a beautiful woman without getting into a dalliance with her? " lol be my wife!

But then, she get jealous when SPT really did get into a dalliance with another girl.

Ding Dang just want a sweet talker to whisper sweet nothing to her and someone who can give her more acting.

i wonder, this girl reminds me of ah zi from DGSD, the evil duan duaghter from xingsu sect. this ding busan and his family practises ruthless skills of a poisoness nature. i wonder, do they have any relationship to Ding Chun Qiu. maybe through a bastard child or one of his disciples who took his name. the ding family skills seem similar to xingsu skills, elegent and visious.

That is a very interesting point. However, there needs to be more than just outward appearances of "elegance" and "viciousness" for one skill (or a range of skills) to be similar to another. Besides, "similarity" is a rather vague and broad term.

Somehow, Shi Qing hasn't made the impact that Bai Wanjian had on me, despite being in the story right from Chapter 1. And somehow, Bai Wanjian's "rawness" seems more poignant than Shi Qing's polish and poise.

I like Shi Qing's PR skills.

But what I like most of him is he's not blinded by his love for his son. He knows his son a spoilt-brat and he know it's a good thing for his son to be displined by ....... at the end.

The scene with the cooking and martial arts training is similar with HQG-GJ-HR although with a different angle
