Celebrity Comebacks

This is a thread to list/discuss celebrity comebacks after their career went nowhere. They remind me that tough times happen to everyone, but look at how some people have risen out of the ashes.

Here are a few comebacks:

-Donnie Yen: in the mid to late 90s, his film career seemed to be in the dumps as he made/starred in only low budget films such as Legend of the Wolf and Ballistic Kiss. Then, in the mid 2000s, he came back with the tour de force SPL, which rejuvenated his career, and now he is one of the most recognizable names in Chinese movies.

-Mariah Carey: in the late 90s, Mariah's career seemed to sink to an all time low as she put out uninspiring songs and starred in garbage such as "Glitter." She was losing popularity fast. But in 2005, she made a career comeback with the album "Emancipation of Mimi", which contained the song of the decade as named by Billboard, which is also maybe her biggest hit ever.

-Marlon Brando: Before he was forever immortalized as The Godfather, Marlon Brando was a yesterday's man whom no filmmaker wanted to work with, which happened some time after him having led the "method" revolution in acting. But his role as The Godfather became one of the most famous and loved acts in the history of movies.

American blues/rock singer Bonnie Raitt spent the 1980s rehabbing from drug addiction and alcoholism (and record sales that were going nowhere) before coming back strong with the multiplatinum hit album NICK OF TIME in 1989, which I believe won a Grammy and kicked off a career renaissance for Raitt that saw several more hit albums during the 1990s.

While Apple, Inc is not a celebrity per se, its comeback is most impressive. Last month, its market value surpassed Microsoft to become the biggest tech company!

And to think, this company and its products were considered antique in the 90s and almost went out of business, compared to its giant success today.

Disgusting. I don't mean to disrespect but I can't believe those women would go all out for his 'love' which is really money and screen time.


Comeback: There is Britney Spears and too bad I can't say the same about Lindsay Lohan cause I actually liked her singing.

Britney Spears had a little comeback, but not earth-shattering IMO.

Apple's comeback is the most impressive and mind blowing. Steve Jobs' skill is beyond comprehension.
