Was rewatching a random episode of DGSD that came on, and it was the episode about Xiao Feng finding out he was Khitan.
It seems that everyone involved in the incident was deeply remorseful about the event, with the few survivors all dramatically changing their lives and wanting to raise Xiao Feng as a hero and forgetting about his Khitan past.
The other monk devoted his life to sampling medicines and saving people, resulting in loss of kungfu and living in seclusion for the past 30 years.
Wang Jiantong taught Xiao Feng 18 Dragon Palms, Dog Beating Stick, and gave him leadership of Beggar's Union and treated him dearly.
The crazy guy Zhao...went crazy with remorse and is too humiliated to live a normal life and is more or less a crazy hermit because of it.
...And Xuan Ci goes on to become the head of Shaolin with nowhere near the remorse as the others (even though he's much more responsible!), and is supposed to be the ultimate righteous figure even though he also has his sex scandal. And to top it off he writes a letter to Wang Jiantong to not pass on the leadership to Xiao Feng due to his heritage? For being the most educated and wise (seemingly) of all of them, he is actually the most narrow minded, and for lack of a better word, douchey.
