Oh, sorry, misread your question. For promo events for a series, I don't think they are paid extra. It's part of the overall contract when they star in a series, having to do promos/media interviews for the series come with it as a package. It's also to their advantage - more promos/media interviews = greater popularity, better chance at getting good future projects. And of course the more popular the series, the higher their bonus, the higher their future earnings.

I know that with modeling agencies, money is paid to the agency and they take a set agency fee (10%, 20%, whatever) and the rest goes to the model. I'm not sure if it's the same with C-entertainment, though.
I'm pretty sure he left after Summer Desire. He might have already been considering at that time, though, because it's not the type of decision an actor would make out of the blue.
And money generally also needs to pass to more hands when companies are huge with lots of PR and stuff like that.Hmm...if I were an actor, I'd choose Tang Ren. That sort of close-knit, supportive environment can be really solid bases for professional growth. Not that I'm saying Hua Yi can't be like that...just that things can seem a bit more impersonal when scope is so large. Still, it's always an advantage to be financially better off. I think it all in good financial strategy, and I think Tang Ren should do more of that (for the sake of being able to comfortably release more shows at a consistent pace without overtaxing revenue and actor/actresses).

so who are the big A-listers for mainland series ? are mainland artist more popular if they do movies in versus to series ? bc i know in hk and korea that it's consider the next step up in their career if they do movies and i heard they get paid more that way too. so if the artists get paid a salary then what's the whole talk about them making X amount of money per episode. it sounds like that's all for publicity purposes to not make the production companies sound like bullies and just milking them for what they're worth. also which company did charmaine sign with and i'm assuming ym is also with huayi ?
so i'm assuming out of everyone hu ge is the one that's the most successful. i just hope they make decent money because i hate it when i see artists that i like struggle for years to pump out great work and at the end of the day are left with nothing or barely anything. i know some actresses and actors of tvb they work so hard and at the end of the day they can't afford a flat in hk. i know it costs around 2-3 millions dollars for a decent one, but that's about 300-400k in us dollars. i mean it's hard for us people to own houses too, but if you make about 60-80k in us with a down payment of 20% you can get a loan for 250k or if you have two people income with a total of 150k or more you can get a bigger house around 600k or so . i just don;'t like it when people work so hard and ends up with nothing. make me feels sad and furious for them.
ahh i hope it's not like korean entertainment where they always have law suits for long contract yrs with long working hours with very little pay. i think the most recent one that was a big deal was that group consisting of 5 members now the 3 that branched out called themselves jyj. i forgot what the group name is, but basically they submitted a request to court to revoke their long term contract where the contract i think was revealed to be at around 10-13 yrs for each members. they were saying they were often overworked and didn't have time to rest which i think they said caused them to be fatigue a lot of their time. on top of everything they revealed the amount paid each year to each member and i couldn't believe what i saw. it was something like 40k us dollars per member paid each yr. i don't know if that's factual bc that's what the members stated i think, but the company stated otherwise. at the end of the day i think the judge gave the verdict to revoke the contract and the members are free from the contract to do whatever they want from now on and i think it also says that their previous management company couldn't interfere with their work any longer bc amidst all of the chaos i think the company tried to ask for a court injunction to stop the disputing members from their contract and work. i just hope things like this in the asian country gets settle bc unless they get paid decent eventually they won't want to work anymore
Very interesting. I've only ever paid attention to film mechanics, not the finance behind it. It may seem an advantage in terms of popularity, but I think it might take it out of the actors/actresses in terms of time/energy (esp if promos/interviews occur during filming). The efforts these wonderful (young and old) people input into entertaining us.Originally Posted by xiaolong
I'd be surprised if HXM hadn't left by Summer Desire. I found it ironic that his character was quite a true reflection of himself (even though the character was not written specifically for him). He was wonderful though - I think his best performance as far as I've seen of his work. Him and Barbie defined intense.Originally Posted by Dragon Heiress
Ok, getting back on track...I'm getting my mother addicted to Strange Hero, it so funny. She doesn't usually like Wuxia like me (with exception of Jin Yong).
Hmm...she also seems to note there was something odd in Ru Yi's behaviour of giving herself up to Yan Song. I think this topic was brought up ages ago. I skipped most of that as I didn't find Ru Yi all that interesting.
how funny. i got my mommy on strange hero right now also.she tends to be a k-drama trender. she's been hook on kdrama for ages and doesn't think other dramas productions are up to par, but i made her give strange hero i try. i think she's on episode 5 and i was constantly asking her "mom, is she pretty (lss), she's alright right ?" and my mom keeps saying "yes, she's cute or she's decent looking " and when i told her that the paps kept mentioning during interview and blogs that she isn't pretty enough to play rx my mom was like "i think they just want to find bad things to say about her , bc she's not exceptional beautiful but she's above average". i was like yeah, after this you will watch bu bu ok ? " and she was like " is that what you've been doing for the last few weeks ?" and i'm like " no , i was done with the series long ago , now i'm just in it's forum". silly me . on the other note, she now got my dad into it and they watch it every night together in their room before going to bed. i come in sometime and sit on their sofa and join the fun
they should hurry up and make a sequel already and get all the cast together again, but i think that would at least take about a yr to gather the cast, get the production going so i think at the earliest we get to see it is 2013 if they choose to make a sequel. i think lss is doing some series with ming dao, the w is doing a series with nichky, not sure about the other 2, but i'm sure they got projects going on so i don't know how their scheduling will follow through. maybe tangren needs to keep hounding w like how they did back in the beginning of hero and melts his heart away so he can shoot the 2nd installment. but i heard tangren just bough the rights to another one of tong hua's novel and they're planning for shooting to occur in early 2012 so they might be pulling a lot of capital on that . ahhh ............it seems like there;'s no hope for our strange hero.
That's sweet.
My mum is also into Kdramas...seems like it's a mum's thing. She was a fan of Young Justice Bao too though, and seeing Strange Hero is sort of in that style (distinct story arc/mysteries), she didn't mind. Although, there's only interest in the relationships. Wuxia is out of the question. It's rare to find someone who is as invested in the actual martial arts of a Wuxia film as I am (perhaps with the exception of the translators in this forum who translate Jin Yong novels).
Along those lines, I was over at the LOCH08 praising LSS for being one of the best martial artist-actress with a dance background I've seen. Usually they seem too pretty with their moves for my tastes. One of my most fav scenes: when YSL skids to a stop at the edge of the roof and balances with her left forearm. One of the first times I've seen a move with a perfect balance of aesthetics and practicality. The exact placement of her forearm neatly balances the halt to slow her forward momentum and her right back leg. So, so beautiful. When she raises herself onto the balls of her feet (which I believe is a part of a ballet move) and uses the downward momentum to add to the force of slamming down her double-connected blades...veerrry nicely done.
Chai Hu also does a phenomenal horse stance.
Impressed by how Wallace generates the power in his strikes. He has the sense to draw it from the torso of his body.

Spot on! LSS graduated from the Beijing Dancing School - bachelor in ballet (北京舞蹈学院芭蕾舞系本科) in 2006. She sure knew how to use her ballet movements to finish the landing.

didn't pay that close of attention to their movements, but chai hu does strike me sa a person that practices martial arts. ty isn't bad either when it comes to martial art skills but she does often comes off very flimsy even when she's suppose to play an expert martial artist. i guess it's hard to find female artists to portray believable martial experts in movies and dramas hence why lss always get chosen for ancient series. i think the new ming dao (or whatever it is) is her first modern series.
^interesting, didn't know that. She got exquisite form as a dancer though.
Currently rewatching this series. ahh feels good to understand it completely now. Where as the first time I saw it, I only understood like 40% of what was going on. My Wallace is back on top now. I just needed some Wallace action that was all. LOL
Can someone tell me if this series has a happy ending? Trying to decide whether or not i want to watch it post BBJx...
