i'd say go only if you've always wanted to go work in china, or at least outside the US. if the only reason you're going is because you've been assured that you will get a job, then stay in the US. and i would ask a few more questions about this "job." why would they want to hire you for at least USD 30,000 when they could hire someone in china for the equivalent of USD10,000? especially when they can sell your kidneys for USD 15,000, your liver for USD 20,000, heart for USD 25,000, etc.

I have heard some rumor about this before, but don't know for sure whether it is true or not. Wow, if this is true then China is a no no place to go.

Lunar, if you are desperately want to leave the US then try to find a job in Canada . Here is a lot safer than China .

    OK Lunar, here goes:

    Tax rate is > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxatio...ual_Income_Tax

Apartments really vary by location and by quality. If you are talking about those nicer condos with lots of expats in the Tianhe district near the MNC offices, pay about 1000+ usd and you'll get a decent one. The thing is that the Chinese mentality is to _own_ property. So even though prices have shot thru the roof, rents have not kept up. Apartments in the cheaper areas are as low as 300usd a month. But thats really for the locals.

Cost of living there is stupid cheap (even though its gone up like 1000% in the past 10-20 years) if you compare it to the US. You can live it up easily.

Note : Pollution. The air in Guangdong is generally not good.

In the end, its all about the job scope, career advancement and total pay package for the US job vs the PRC job.

BTW, can you speak and write Mandarin? Are you male or female?

I have experience working in China, so PM me if you have more detailed questions.
