Default The Xiao Feng/Guo Jing/Yang Guo INGLORIOUSNESS thread

Like the title says, list the moments where these 3 SuperStrong bada$$es didn't do so well.

Here are a few for Xiao Feng:

    1. He failed to kill Ah Zhu instantly with his maximum strength (plot device victim).

    2. He failed to slaughter a tiger instantly with 50% (or was it 75%?) of his strength.

    Yang Guo:

    1. Got his sword broken twice by GWM, even after supposedly training HIS and/or Wooden Sword.

    Guo Jing:

    1. ???

Here's one for GJ. When HYS challenged him to hit him squarely with XL18P, GJ only managed to dislocate his own wrist even though HYS didn't lift a hand.

We don't really get to see him fight too much at his peak though. He did fail to break through the Mongolian formation at the end of ROCH, but not being able to smash through the strongest part of an enemy army isn't really inglorious.

    Here's another for GJ--

GJ couldn't take out Ou Yang Ke with 15 of the 18 dragon palms; then upon learning the last 3, he still couldn't take out OYK.

This is the same GJ that kept 9-yin bone claw MCF at bay just by using the exact SAME 18 palms forwards and backwards repeatedly. I just don't see OYK as being much more powerful then MCF...

The Snake Fist technique was a really high level one though. OYF actually intended to beat the other Greats with it after all. Furthermore, H7G even admitted that he had no counter for it right there and then.

Furthermore, at this time, the narrator was all over how GJ's "true martial arts" were below that of OYK.

I don't remember where in the novel XF fought the tiger at 50%... just wondering what timeline did this event occur? Was it an adult Beggar leader XF or one of the events of his childhood?

In either case, after reading ChronoReverse's post about how LOCH HYS literally pwning a horse with a half-withdrawn palm pat... that can make XF's tiger incident an inglorious one

Au Yeung Hak had one advantage that Mui Chiu Fung didn't: he could SEE. Remember: Gwok Jing only beat Mui Chiu Fung at that point because he took advantage of her blindness. Straight up, he wasn't ready to take her on just yet.

Hmmm... other than that, can't think of many other Inglorious moments for GJ

I guess JY wanted GJ to be the underdog that outperformed expecatations. Not many times was he dipicted as uber powerful and then screwed up.

At the Chung Yeung Temple near the beginning of ROCH, he broke only ninety-eight of a hundred Taoists' swords.

Not exactly the most embarrassing thing ever, but still...

That exact scene ran through my head and I also didn't find it Inglorious. GJ didn't go into the fight with full confidence that he can break all 100 swords. Nor did anyone else perform a similar feat who GJ was supposed to be equal/superior to-- hence no relative comparison for GJ's ability to only break 98. In fact, even GJ humbly admitted to himself "Wow.. I still some room for improvement...I didn't shatter all 100"

30 yrs ago, when Daddy Xiao was presumably much less powerful, one palm was enough to smash a horse dead and flying backwards with its rider tens of feet. Don't see how a Tiger is that much more powerful.

    Some more XF ingloriousness.

    1. Needing 3 palms to overcome Gongye in a direct palm match (note that YTZ KOs a Xuan monk in ONE palm).

    2. Fighting so slow that WYY could see his moves.

    3. Not being able to kill 4th Evil with his palm strike.

    Even More Xiao Feng ingloriousness:

-he felt great discomfort by You Tanzhi's internal energy, whereas Ding Chunqiu didn't seem to feel it!

-while watching Feng Bo'e and the farmer from about 100+ feet away (?), when the farmer dumped the shit at Feng Bo'e, Xiao Feng was unable to move in fast enough to "save" Feng (of course, even more embarrassing for Feng, he wasn't able to evade).

-needed to receive instructions from Elder Xi! albeit around age 17.

-while hiding in secret, his breath was detected by his teacher, Reverend Xuanku.

-while hiding in Shaolin after his teacher's death, his presence was somehow detected by Abbot Xuanci.

-Up till chapter 17 or so, the toughest foe he ever fought was Abbot Xuanci, who was only at 1/3 of Xiao's power! He ought to find more worthy adversaries!

-When he first met Duan Yu at the drinking contest, couldn't tell Duan Yu was leaking water through a finger, even though they were going at it for several hours!

-Was shocked to hear that a kung fu can allow someone to drip water through their finger, even though Qiu Chuji did something similar in LOCH (release water through his feet ?).

    ....to be continued....

Even without using zhenqi, one can release water that ends up at one's feet. Are we certain this wasn't what Qiu Chuji was doing?

It clearly states that QCJ was forcing out the wine from his feet and there was a huge puddle of it. They drank half a cistern of strong wine in the process (which QCJ forced all of out).

Besides, you could say one could release water that ends up in one's hands as well using that logic.

I think pannonian was hinting that Yau Chui Gei wet his pants.

Here is one for Guo Jing. In ROCH chapter 4, when he arrived at Quanzhen during Huodu's ambush, he tried to grab 2 of Huodu's men who were fighting Quanzhen masters, but was unable to move them. These 2 were most likely far below Huodu's level. A Great shouldn't have any trouble with them.

Here's one for LOCH Guo Jing: after he unintentionally struck down Ke Zhen'e, he used his maximum power to cut off his arm with a sword. However, Ke Zhen'e was able to stop him. At this time Guo Jing was already near-Great level, and yet his maximum power could still be stopped by a Jiangnan Freak.

Just realized I didn't answer this question:

It was in chapter 26, when he was searching for a cure for Ah Zi. I am confirming that he used 70% of his power, and the tiger wasn't even injured!

    Another XF ingloriousness:

While on a horse, he dropped the Yijinjing manual and didn't even know, thus enabling You Tanzhi to pick it up.

    Guo Jing;

When he failed to chop Guo Fu's arm and pull out her tongue.

Should have just use his HL18 to blast her to smithereens.

In the 3rd edition, HR (jokingly) suggested that GJ smack her bottom with his 18 dragon palms. GJ replied that she was not worthy, and if he did it would turn her bottom to pulp.
