    Default Toy Story I-III

Like the best of fairy tales, "Toy Story 3" is more serious than it seems and hardly seems serious at all. This 3rd instalment in Pixar's "Toy Story" series is fun and lively and not only it will please the kids, but adult as well. In spirit, it really completes another trilogy - one that includes "Wall-E" and "Up" - with its moving contemplation of mortality, human value and memory.

So, the toys are finally in the safe hands of that little girl. The ending of TS 3 touched me as Andy facially expressed his reluctance to part with Woody.
Every toy in that movie seems to play an important role (make the audiences laughed and remember them, in their own unique and funny way), but what is it that makes Woody stands out among all? Pixar just did it! Let's discuss about the characters.

    - Which character annoys you?
    - Which character crack you up most?
    - Which character you find eerie or was a horror to you when you were a kid?

Personally, I find that evil, schemey, authoritative purple teddybear with strawberry fragrance most annoying.

He is also the definitive example of "wolf under sheep's clothing".

Crack me up...? The Potato Head and the three green man who are always so unite. (I'd named of my lecturer Potato Head back in my teens.)

The most eerie character to me as to be the broken baby. These toy plastic babies looks eerie to me even when I was a child.

I missed the presence of Bo Peep, the sweet and lovable porcelain shepherdess figurine. I prefer Bo over Barbie.

There should be more contribution from me, but it's lunch time so my brain needs a break. Tell us your review of the movie and share with us your thoughts, if any.

Side-note: You may also share about your relationship with toys in the past (as a child). Me? I had only a porcelain coin bank duck figurine as my toy. It was a Donald duck prototype of duck design.

Man, the ending had me bawling and I rarely cry during movies. I didn't even really like the first 2 toy stories all that much. But pixar definitely getting better and better at telling family friendly stories that touches the human heart without being corney and cheezy.

I wanted to go play with my toys again...

Actually, I have a lot of stuffed animals when I was young (and I still have most of them now). Though, I've never had a big purple bear before. Still, it made me feel for him a lot more.

I haven't watched Toy Story 3 yet, but with all the positive reviews, I'm itching to watch it! I loved the first two Toy Story movies, mainly because I still talk to my stuffed toys as if they are real. I have a huge Pooh Bear (creatively named Big Pooh) and I dance with him, talk to him, hug him as if he were my real fuzzy companion. I also have a small furry brown bear I named Brownie, and I take him with me on my trips around the world. He appears a lot in my vacation pictures. I even introduced Brownie once to a forest ranger in Australia. I also have a small Pooh Bear (again, creatively named Little Pooh), who I took with me to Rome, Italy. He was the target of a random search at the airport by airport security (probably thought I had drugs hidden inside?). Boy, was Little Pooh indignant when his belly got squeezed!

    Awww......

What about Wall-E? I thought that was quite touching too.

Yes, they are. I still prefer Pixar over Dreamworks overall.

I had a grumpy-face brown teddy bear, a small one when I was 7. He sat on the hamper which I've won in a Colouring contest. He was part of my prize. He must be very upset in his dark corner now.

A coin has two sides. Lotso's evil side came with a sad story that trully triggers our softspot. I think my eyes went red when....

the baby cried after Lotso gave her a piece of harsh reality. While Lotso failed to realise that he was replaced with an identical Huggin bear because his owner missed him.

Pembie, when we compare with other Pixar animations or even with those from Dreamworks?

Toy Story 3 could be very touching but I think I have a softer spot for a movie like Astroboy (US remake). It's the father-son love that caught me teary.

i don't usually like the dreamworks movies as much. it seems like they churn out sequels just to make money, but pixar has more heart. they always try to convey a deeper message.

Toy Story 3 is excellent. So many hilarious moments but also very emotional scenes. Who would have thought they'd tackle the subject of death in such a fashion? Wow, I was blown away. Pixar has yet to fail.
My obsessions: Joy Division, New Order, Bones, The Office.

Except for the really funny ones like Flushed Away, Kungfu Panda, Over The Hedge and How To Train Your Dragon, I haven't watched the rest of Dreamwork's production. I'm just not motivated to do so, maybe because of their animation... their characters look too "raw". I agree that their story are more shallow when compare to Pixar's production. Kungfu Panda is an exception though.

In fact, KFP was taken to make comparison with The Forbidden Kingdom despite they are different movies (but released in theatres around the same time). The similarity is probably because they are both Chinese cultural story, where a teenager becomes from zero to hero (Po the Panda vs Jason Tripitikas). And, people actually prefer the Panda over the Boy because KFP's story is more sensible than TFK.

IMO, KFP and How To Train Your Dragon are sincere works of Dreamworks. Oh, by chance, I've watched Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron on TV. Spirit has a meaningful story despite it is 2D.

Subject of death? I can't deduced that moral from the movie. How is that so? Please share.

Haha, I'm sorry. I thought you'd know spanish.

No problem, here's the translation in brackets:-

Y yo solía hablar con mis juguetes
(And I used to talk to my toys.)

At least you're more creative than I am in naming furry brown bears. Of course, my Brownie's previous owner never gave him a name; he was just the bear with no name. When I came along, I started calling him Brownie, so the name stuck. I think Brownie's just glad to have any name at all, so he doesn't mind my lack of creativity with names.

Y yo solía hablar con mis juguetes
(And I used to talk to my toys.)
I think of all stuffed toys as poor little orphans, sitting on the shelves of toy stores, hoping and praying very hard to be purchased, to be brought home and loved by their new owners. Naming my stuffed dogs and bears gives them personality and talking to them makes me smile. My Big Pooh and Brownie are so adorable. I would post a picture of them but I don't remember how to post pictures, nor do I have the inclination to find out right now.

Well, I will probably watch Toy Story 3 soon! I'm getting pretty excited about it now, especially since I hear there's a furry purple bear in there! I love stuffed bears!

I'm itching to go watch this! I've recently rewatched the first two movies again, and it seems to get better with each movie. Usually it's the other way around.

It's also endearing to us since most of us were much younger when the first movie was released, so in a sense, we did grow up along with Andy and the rest of the toys.

Finally, I had a chance to watch Toy Story 3 and loved every bit of it! Here are my rambling thoughts.

    1) Ken is absolutely hilarious! I suspect that the story writers for the Ken parts are men who, as young boys, watched their younger sisters play with their Ken dolls and snickered behind their hands as their younger sisters made Ken prance around in his oh-so-stylish outfits. Ken is so...metrosexual! So conscious of his appearance! The Ken in the movie reminds of someone I know.
    click to show/hide spoilers
The funniest part of the movie is when Barbie disguises herself as Ken and dresses up in Ken's spacesuit and walks up to the bookworm. Then the bookworm realizes that "Ken" is wearing heels. At first, I think, "Oh, no. She's busted!" But then, the bookworm gives a disgusted sigh and turns away, probably thinking, "Great, now Ken's experimenting with wearing women's heels!"

    2) The broken baby doll, I agree, is somewhat creepy. But after a while, I find the baby very sad and pitiful. There's this one scene where the baby doll is sitting on the swing in the playground, silently staring up at the moon with this melancholy, lost look. I kind of feel bad for him at that moment. He's just a misguided toy and not really bad.

    3) Bonnie's toy clown, who used to be friends with Lotso when they belonged to Daisy, is hilarious, also. He's so serious with his frown.
    click to show/hide spoilers
And his retelling of how Lotso became so evil and angry is funny because it reminds me of how a villain's former friend in a wuxia story would reveal the villain's background to the readers. The former friend would sigh with regret, shaking his head dolefully, as he tells everyone how the villain wasn't always evil...

    4) After watching Toy Story 3, I went home and hugged my Big Pooh (my very large Winnie the Pooh stuffed bear) and told him that I would never abandon him, leave him behind carelessly, or donate him to a daycare center.

Yes I loved Toy Story 3, the first one was great and the second was good. Mostly I wouldn't watch sequel due to the production just wanting money so they create sequels but Toy story is an exception. Great story and voice acting.

My favorite character gotta be Mr. Potato, he cracks me up starting from the first movie. I think Pixar and Disney knew just how many teens and adults might watch this third installment so they made it not just kids would enjoy but all age would.

Yes I was disappointed that Bo Peep is not in this one too.

oh toy story 3...I never liked the first two much, i went to watch the first one in cinemas because it was 3d animation, one of the first of its kind. didn't particularly like the film itself but went to watch the 2nd one anyway since i've seen the first. well now that i've seen the first and second, i had to see third.

but third was by far my favorite of them all, my all time favorite film will always be nemo, up and wall-e, but toy story 3 ranks up there too.

most annoying character for me would be Jessie, i've never like jessie and miss bo peep so much.

the most eerie character has to be the baby doll...the scene he(?) was sitting on the swing was sad but when he turned his head around it freaked me out. I doesn't help that i get reminded of Chuckie whenever i see that doll.

the character the cracked me up the most in 3 was the dog...2nd would be Ken. I was hoping that GI Joe would turn up and fight with Ken for Barbie...i had a GI Joe, Ken and Barbie toy before and that was my senerio.

All my toys that are broken are in a box in storage while the ones that are still good to play with I donated to the church or charity. The ones that i'm attached to, mainly my cow collection are sitting on my shelf, they've been there for years. I take them down to wash them once in a while and hug them.
Currently in love with Bae Suzy...for superficial reasons.
