Default Were the Gong Nam 7 Freaks' jobs just covers, or legit careers?

Most of the Gong Nam 7 Freaks had vocations other than being wulin heroes: Chu Chung (# 2) was a scholar, Hon Bo Kui (# 3) was a horse wrangler, Nam Hei Yan (# 4) was a woodsman, Cheung Ah Sang (# 5) was apparently a butcher, and Cheun Gum Fat (# 6) was apparently a merchant of some kind. Only Ohr Jen Ngok (# 1) and Hon Siu Ying (# 7) were full-time wulin heroes.

For # 2-6, were those vocations merely covers, or were those their legitimate vocations? Which was their *main* job...the wulin gig, or those other lines of work?

Also, aside from joint missions such as the Gwok Jing project (that one took up the rest of the lives of six of the Freaks), did the Freaks usually hang out with each other, or did they pretty much do their separate things until called together for a specific purpose?

I think they came together for a specific purpose - finding GJ and teaching him MA.
