Default Kiu Fung - in greater danger at Tsui Yin Manor or at Shaolin?

A variation on the earlier question...

Was Kiu Fung in greater danger of being killed against the 200+ mediocre fighters at Tsui Yin Manor, or against the triple threat of Mo Yung F'uk, Yau Tan Tze, and Ding Chun Chou at the Shaolin Temple?

Forget that he had help at Shaolin (though he also got help at Tsui Yin Manor when his father showed up). Imagine that in both cases, Kiu Fung had to go it alone all the way.

In actuality, the Shaolin scenario would've been more dangerous. XF was actually beating the crap out of the people at Juxian Manor and terrifying them (read the part where he was owning with the two wheels), and IMHO, if it weren't for Ah Zhu, he probably would've been able to come out of that one alive, and with the heroes of Juxian dead or fled.

You Tanzhi+Murong Fu in the actual fight was already stalemating him; toss in Ding Chunqiu, and it's almost certain that he would've lost.

It's funny how JY described that XF will die for sure in Juxian Manor but when they actually start fighting, it seemed pretty probable that XF can fight his way out alive.

The fight at Shaolin is boring. He just fought like a robot. Whereas in Juxian Zhuang, he demonstrated much more creativity and unpredictability in his fighting. If he fought at Juxian Zhuang like he fought at Shaolin, the result would not have been as good.

The synergistic effect of Murong Fu + You Tanzhi is too good to be true. It is one of the things that Jin Yong wrote that I dismiss as rubbish.

If XF kept the two shields, I'm pretty sure he would've killed everybody and not suffered any harm whatsoever.

It seemed like he could just run around flapping his arms and everybody would've been toast. It was like one of those RPG's where the main character is level 100 and fighting the level 5 foes from the beginning of the game.

I have that same RPG analogy impression in my mind while reading that chapter too.

In any case, the description of JY on the danger he faced seemed more to be there purely for the plots sake. Guess it wouldn't have been fun if from the start, it was described as a cakewalk.

Even before he picked up the shields, he was stomping on everyones' colon and didn't get a scratch and wasn't tiring. And he had to worry about Ah Zhu and hold back against the Shaolin and Beggar Elders at first.

But even with all that going for XF, I would think post-Silkworm YTZ would have done even better than XF. The Decaying-Corpse poison would have wrecked havoc against a crowd like the one at Ju Xian Zhuang.
