Wuxia fans know of the Khitan ethnic group due to the character Siu Fung from Jin Yong's wuxia novel DEMIGODS & SEMIDEVILS. Historically, however, whatever happened to the Khitan people after the fall of their Liao Empire? Today, there are obviously still descendants of the Jurchen, Mongolian, and Uighur people living in modern China, but the Khitan seem to have completely disappeared. What happened to their civilization and people?
