    Default Women are thinkers

    Just came across this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xFLf3HoDtQ

Every woman I'm close to - family, GFs, friends - has witnessed me sitting down, looking up or far away and appearing to be in deep thoughts. However, that's just me thinking of nothing and giving my mind a rest.

Yet "nothing" is never a good enough answer for them!

I reckon the more a man does that around someone, the more comfortable he is with that person's presence.

It's simply an expression of the Man Cave - but instead of a physical cave, it's a virtual cave which our (men's) mind escapes to.

One of my ex, who's studying to become a doctor that screws with people's heads (heaven saves them, she's nuts), said that it's impossible for women to think of nothing.

Can you girls think of nothing?

    LOL ... Russell Peters.

Slightly related (well, no, but just because it's funny):

    Dave Chappelle.

To the topic - I actually fully agree with Russell Peters. This has happened with my boyfriend and I, where I'd ask him what he's thinking about, he'd say "Nothing," and I'd be like, "How can you not think about anything." But I guess guys can do that - interesting.

I don't think I've ever been able to produce the blank screen/screen saver thing. I might sort of zone out for a bit, but that's not the same.

    LOL...:-)

Well... I can do the screen saver thing (and do it pretty often, actually). But not the blank screen, I guess...

No... I need to keep my mind preoccupied all the time or it'd just be unbearable.

Thinking of nothing? I don't even think. I switch my mind off when I let it rest. You know, this thing called eco-friendly. Hmmm, quite often I switch it to "eco-friendly" mode actually.

    Haha so true.

Apparently my not-thinking face makes me look like I am deep in thought to her.

I dunno.....I'm a girl, and there have been times where I will just blank out and think of nothing. It's not THAT hard to do.

Please hand back your Girly Card, jadebunny. You've violated one of the rules written on the back of it.

I admit I've never experienced such blank out moment before, but, my mom said she has.

I had a conversation with my co-worker today and we both agreed that (some) women think too much. I'm included. I do wish to have the ability to not think about anything whenever I want.

Probably a personality issue; I can never think of nothing; but my female friend said she finds it hard to think; her mind will always be blank when she's not doing something.

One of my favorite past times is daydreaming...'bout nothing in particular. I'm not sure if I'm thinking about nothing but if I get asked I would reply, "nothing" because I can't remember what I was thinking about if I was thinking of anything at all. My mind blanks out quite a bit especially when I'm walking. Sometimes, I'm also capable of not thinking while doing something. I call this "Google-ing." and "Wikipedia" ....you know it's happened to y'all too.

I did not know that this was a typically male attribute.

And yes, in real life, people think I am a profound and complex human being.

me, too. though that's probably just me sleeping with my eyes open

if somebody asked me I'll reply, "Do you have an hour or two to go through the things running in my head?"

Usually I got stares, or just shocked looks. Seemed to me the person who asked isn't really looking for an answer.

I find it hard to think of nothing at will. It does happen from time to time when I'm just really tired but most of the time I get distracted by my surroundings. Like the sound of the wind or movement of the clouds and the funny shapes in them, or how white the ceiling is.
