Is Duan Yu's father (Duan Zhengchun) Yi Deng? The reason Im confused about these 2 bc they both have 4 guys following them.

No, DGSD was set several generations before LOCH. Yideng was probably a descendant of Duan Yu, though.
The four followers are the same style using the four professions - maybe it's a Dali thing. Both scholars had the surname Zhu, and Zhu Changling from HSDS was a decendant of Zhu Zhiliu, not sure if they're related to Zhu Danshen from DGSD. The other three professions were most likely unrelated. The farmer in DGSD was Feng Xigui, and Wu Santong in LOCH, so there's no relation there. The fisherman in LOCH was Dian Chang or something like that, so probably not related to DGSD's Xu Wanli either. I don't recall the woodcutter in LOCH being named (he was .. can't remember in Mandarin.. Koo Tuck Seng in DGSD).
Thanks Ian, that cleared it up for me
To be precise, South Emperor Deun Chi Hing (later monk 1 Deng) was the grandson of Deun Yu.
