    Starring
    Kodi Smit-McPhee
    Chloë Moretz
    Richard Jenkins

    Plot: (Credit to IMDP)

While the trailers and description make this movie look like a horror movie mixed with a crime drama, that couldn't be farther from the truth. The fact the girl is a vampire is secondary. In fact, it's even trivial. This is a story about a young boy, who is bullied by all of those around him at school. This girl he meets becomes his only friend (prior to which he had none) and teaches him to have the courage to stand up for himself. When the time comes and he does, the situation changes and yes, she does step in and help him with his bullying "problem". Ultimately this is a story about love and friendship between a confused young boy and a girl forever trapped in eternal youth. I highly recommend watching the original Swedish version, "Let the right one in". It's slow going, but it's also very endearing. The writer of the Swedish novel and screenplay is also the writer for this American adaptation of the story.

This is a remake of the movie "Let The Right One In" which was a movie adaptation of a book. A story of a young boy who is frequently bullied and a young girl that moves in next door with her caretaker. It is established that she is a vampire and, after losing her caretaker, must leave in order to survive. A story of innocent love entangled in murder, mystery, and horror.

    Another Plot: (Credit to Comicbookmovie)
An alienated 12-year-old boy befriends a mysterious young newcomer in his small New Mexico town, and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood in Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield). Twelve-year old Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Richard Jenkins). A frail, troubled child about Owens’s age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond. When a string of grisly murders puts the town on high alert, Abby’s father disappears, and the terrified girl is left to fend for herself. Still, she repeatedly rebuffs Owen’s efforts to help her and her increasingly bizarre behavior leads the imaginative Owen to suspect she’s hiding an unthinkable secret.

I had heard of this film back in 2008 when the Swedish movie was released. I have never been much of a fan of Swedish film as they had always been a little too hellbent on trying to convince the viewers to commit suicide, but as I was majorly annoyed with Twilight and how they ruined Vampires I had given Let the Right One In a chance.

I checked it out and found that there was a book so I went and got myself a copy, I was two chapters in and about 15mins into the film that I heard about this remake. Now I've always been a person who prefers to watch or read things without prejudice of an earlier viewing of a different medium, so I had given both up and decided to wait for the American release.

And I must say...this was a worthwhile wait. I was not disappointed in the film, and had come from it highly satisfied without only a few quibbles...mainly CG annoyance...and a few Twilight and Vampire Diaries fans that were *****ing about how there was no cute guys.

The acting by the two children were better then expected and even the adults with their limited time span was able to show their characters well. I have not seen the original or read the book yet as I am waiting for a 2nd viewing, but this is a highly enjoyable film for those who can stomach drama and independent films.

If your a Twilight fan then stay away, you will definitely not enjoy this film. I must also warn those who cannot stand pedophilia, graphic murder, bullying and loneliness in their films. This is also a slow moving film and its 2hours long.

    Stills continued:

Thanks for sharing your review of this movie. I had seen the trailer of this movie on several occasions yet it didn't strike me as a movie that has anything to do with vampire. However, the title "Let Me In" really interest me to find out more about this movie. Now, after reading your review and the plot, I think I'll look out for the DVD.

I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?

I'll pass. I have seen "Let The Right One In" (a must-see, by the way), *loved* it - and I have decided to be ostentatiously disinterested in what Americans do to the same source material. I mean - what is the point? An excellent adaptation of the same story was made - like - two, three years ago...
