Erm not necessary. A different hairstyle and makeup (and grooming) can do wonders. Besides, they GREW UP.

I don't think they look DRASTICALLY different. No repeat of Angleababy-ish ness here--> baby girl is a completely different ethnicity!!! I'm not a celebrity, and I look like a completely different person than when I was in middle school to high school to now in my mid 20s. Aging does that to people.

I actually thought Jolin was one of the ones who looked more alike to her younger pic. Glasses, hairstyle and makeup (and probably some weightloss) can easily make a huge difference. I've had friends in school who completely blew me away when they suddenly dressed up.

For the Takeshi Kaneshiro picture, I don't think that one is his schooldays pic. He looks too old to be in school in that pic and it's too polished. Looks like something taken for a magazine, him holding a dog and smilingly like that and the photo quality. Those sports jacket shirt were quite popular during his pop star days.

Ariel looks more mature in school days than now. Rainie didn't change much.

TC, go youtube some makeup videos (esp. those in Taiwanese variety shows) and you'd see how people can look completely different without knife works.

That's also a very different pic of Jolin from a different angle, thinner and more gaunt. I've seen other pics of her on albums which look more like the "before" pic, with more rounded cheeks.

Plastic surgery seems to be a hip opinion to have, I think. Always a convenient way to explain how people can end up looking better than before. Not always wrong, of course, but in this case I really don't think Jolin looks altered. If you only go by those two photos (the second one specially selected to look as different as possible in order to illustrate the author's point) then you could be forgiven for thinking that, but that first pic is also definitely Jolin.

I've seen enough pics of Jolin Tsai over the years to know definitively that she's had a nose job at least.

I know this is kinda unrelated, but I've been watching a number of classic TVB series and movies from the 1980s and thought the artistes then had this unique aura and beauty about them.

It's amazing how well Andy Lau, Chow Yuen Fatt, Maggie Cheung and Kathy Chow have aged.
