Qing Shi Huang Fei 《倾世皇妃》 - Ruby Lin, Yan Kuan, Wallace Huo

My fanfic is a wuxia story with too many characters. I've recently introduced Wallace Chung in as a character in one of my subplots. There was originally talk about adding in Yuan Hong as Wallace Chung's character's love rival, but Yuan Hong is too young, I think, for Sun Fei Fei, who will be Wallace's Chung's character's love interest. Anyway, it's too long a story to sum up in a few sentences. Give it a try, if you wish. However, my invitation to my story thread is not a ploy to get you to read it; rather, I think it would be fun to have one more Wallace Chung supporter drooling along with me over there.

If Ruby had casted Wallace Chung as QiYou and Yuan Hong as LianXi, then the series would have been a great success with such charming villains! Too bad we'll probably have to wait forever to see Wallace Chung and Yuan Hong in the same series, and both acting as villains, too!

Yeah, out of curiosity's sake, I caught some episodes of Di Xia Tie 地下铁 (why it's translated to "Sound of Colors" I have no idea!) on joy.cn. They have wonderful chemistry together! Their coupling was so romantic, touching & cute - much like Guo Jing & Huang Rong in LOCH. He looked so young in there - believe he was only 26 when he filmed the series and Ruby was 30. Looking forward to him as LianCheng. The thing is, nailing the QiYou villain-lover role right is very difficult - if Yan Kuan doesn't manage to exude that class of charm that Yelu Xie had, and with Wallace being a much stronger actor, my guess is that the audience will favour FuYa with LianCheng rather than QiYou in the TV version (which unfortunately isn't the author's intent).

As you may or may not be aware, DiXiaTie - Sound of Colors, is based on a comic/artbook by the same name. The story is based upon what the blind girl visualizes during her daily travels on the subway. And the story, ends with this poem by Rainer Maria Rilke
I no longer have to do without now,
All colors are translated
into sound and smells
and they ring infinitely sweet
like tones.
Why should I need a book?
The wind leaves through the trees,
and I know what passes there for words
and sometimes repeat them softly.
And death who plucks eyes like flowers,
doesn't find my eyes.

In short, despite her blindness, she is able to visualize the world vividly through the sounds she hears.

In the Series, this is reflected in the scene where JingJing returns to radio broadcasting, and speaks about how YunXiang had taught her to see color through the heart.
"I have some artist friends who told me, color not only comes from the paint board, nor the canvas, nor the scenery in front of them. He told me, if someone is lost for hope, even if they have a pair of radiant eyes, they will be unable to see the color that is in this world. Whether it is the brightness of Yellow, the seduction of Red, or the purity of Blue. If you don't view with a clear heart, those colors would be weaker than grey, and as helpless as darkness.
Those artist friends told me, the most beautiful color is that that comes from the heart. Then I slowly learnt to use the heart to feel the beauty of this world.
Searching for hope in darkness, and bring hope to the rest of the world."

In the end JingJing can never go blind again, as YunXiang has shown her the world.

Wow, Takako...thanks! Makes me want to buy the Sound of Colors DVD now . From the few episodes of Sound of Colors I saw online, Wallace-Ruby chemistry is even better than Wallace-Tong Liya in Strange Hero. Qing Shi will be the third time they are collaborating as a couple after Sound of Colors and Lou (an upcoming Taiwanese horror flick).

I'm all the more convinced Wallace-Ruby will sparkle in Qing Shi...can't wait!

QiYou is the youngest of the Princes. QiXing is his older Brother.

if Yuan Hong is everything you guys say he is and the above pic is what he looks like with a clean shave, then he should be LianXi, Wallace's younger Brother. LianXi comes in as a major role about a third way into the story, then steps back intermittently, until taking center stage in the last quarter of the Story. You never know, he might still be able to film it with properly arranged schedules.

Or ZhanMengTian, which is a character described to be very much as ruthless as QiYou. And this character starts his role in about the last quarter of the story as well

Well, Tangren/Karen is very stubborn about not releasing Yuan Hong to Qing Shi (which is certainly a major rival to Bu Bu), so don't think he can even be ZhenMeng Tian. He shouldn't have let himself be persuaded into Bu Bu when they don't even own him anymore.

Really looking forward to the press conf on 26 Jan 2011! I believe Du Jin Ze (Lu Lu in MRXJ) is confirmed as well.

I thought he was quite cute in MRXJ but not what i would call "hot". Just cute.

I loooove the story already with all the exceptionally handsome kings warring against each other. If you are a big fan of Young Warriors (like me), this is definitely a very anticipated series.

He sees FuYa as a splitting image of his Mother, whether it was a longing for maternal love, he loved FuYa, and gave her a jade piece that belonged to his mother. Should she ever request anything from him, he will deliver. With the help of FuYa, he fled to the Kingdom of Yu, away from QiYou's reach, where he assisted LianXi and became a great general and battled against the Qi Army in the War.

I am basing my comments solely on the novel. Though it wouldn't alter the storyline in anyway, if changes are made to the series adaptation.

Huh? Yoyo as LianXi? I mean he's OK looking, but not drop-dead handsome like what LianXi is suppose to be. I can't imagine him doing a charming villain role. He's always the goofy sort of good guy in Taiwanese idol series. Nope, he's not charismatic villain material...period.

All these hot guys make for a very promising series (the last guy looks really mediocre though--maybe just a bad pic?). It's just missing YH! I can't believe Karen Cai refuses to release him from BBJX, especially after they guilted him into doing it and he did them such a huge favour by agreeing to be in that rather than Qing Shi. Grrr!

However, they need more girls! So basically Ruby's character is the only main girl and all these hot guys fall for her? Honestly I can see that getting really annoying really fast. I like to see a variety of relationships, not just a huge "triangle" (more like an octagon at this rate) type thing revolving around one girl. And if it is just one girl, the character needs to be really compelling and likeable, otherwise it'll just get annoying. Since I haven't really found any of Ruby's previous roles that appealing, I'm a bit worried about this part of it...I rarely enjoy stories where there is one central character who is supposedly all "perfect" and everyone falls in love with him/her.

But after, focused on film rather than TV series.
I like his acting in "Formula 17" - he got best new actor at golden horse film awards.

Errrr...I think the carrying-flower-in-the-mouth looks kinda cheesy, though Yan Kuan is handsome.

My feel for this series is that people would prefer FuYa/Ruby to be with LianCheng/Wallace rather than QiYou/Yan Kuan. Wallace is just as handsome and a much better actor.

Yup, I just read the synopsis on Ruby's fan site. FuYa will marry all the 3 leading guys and be loved by most of the rest.
