Orlando and Miami - with my mom

I am going on vacation with my mom to Orlando and Miami. Any suggestions to make her happy?

Does one need a car in Orlando? How is the public transportation?

Is your mom a shopper? Outlet shopping is pretty darn good in Orlando!

I've only ever been a "tourist" in Orlando, and haven't gone to many local places except the more local malls and restaurants. We've had a car most times because a lot of the driving is on the freeway and for the convenience of not having to wait for shuttles. I can't seem to recall seeing much for public transport, though, but I wasn't really looking.

If you're going to do the usual tourist things (Disney, Universal, Seaworld, and the big outlets), you can get away from renting a car since lots of hotels have shuttles to those places.

BTW, the drive between Orlando and Miami is boooooriiing if you take the fast route (the name is slipping me at the moment).
