Lines of wuxia dialog that look OK on paper, but sound weird in film/on TV.

When Harrison Ford first read lines for the role of Han Solo in the original STAR WARS, he remarked to George Lucas, "You can write this sh*t, George, but you can't say it." Ford's comment was aimed towards the prose of Lucas, which looks all right on the printed page, but sounds stilted and corny coming out of the mouths of actors on film. Anyone who has seen the STAR WARS films (particularly the Prequels) knows: dialog has never been George Lucas' strong suit, and some of the lines he writes for the characters are laughable because they include things that people would never say to each other.

Similarly, do you find lines in wuxia that look fine or even great on the printed page, but that you can hardly believe that the actors in wuxia adaptations can say with a straight face?

Nothing specifically wuxia-ish...but I usually wanna bust out laughing at alot of the romantic dialogue between Yang Guo and his shifu. Nothing specific off the top of my head, just the recalled impression from watching the latest version with Huang Xiao Ming and Liu Yi Fei. And there is thing that ancient couples do in the series--stare at each other for a really long time in silence. How do the actors do that without laughing? I mean, I laugh when I watch them stare at each other...gosh why is that romantic?

i tried it once with this gal whom friends intro me too, i said 'xin hoi quy nhan cua dai ha' aka 'may i ask whats ur name' she was like wtf...and all my friends were laughing there asses off cause they know i watch to much wuxia series...she should be happy i didnt talk to her with my back towards her like in most wuxia series...
