Me: *takes a look and saw that aside from the hairstyle and photo angle, nothing about her looks different* .... X_X!

Does that bother you? At least when you post you are contributing, not spamming or trolling.

I'm a person of Chinese heritage, and I must say, as a civilization, we sometimes really, really SUCK.

To start with, our sense of ethics as a culture is appalling.

First and foremost, the value placed on human life.

I know it's hard to see this when population figures top out at nearly two billion, but still...

Is it a specific phenomenon of the chinese culture/civilization or is it an occurance of human society in general.

It happens more in Chinese culture/civilization than others.

Moreover, when it happens in other societies, it's a cause for surprise and shame.

When it happens in China, it's just accepted as the norm...shamelessly.

obtuse? sorry i am not as intelligent as you, as I do not know ALL the other cultures out there nor do I know what their "ethics" is.

Secondly, I am not exactly sure what parameters you are using to define "culture".

When 'high-profile law suits have ended with good Samaritans ordered to pay hefty fines to individuals they sought to help' happened too often, it can really harden people's heart.

This mindset in China predates modern concepts of "good Samaritan laws" by thousands of years. It's as deeply ingrained into the Chinese character as the regular consumption of rice.

It happens wherever there's a massive population. China happens to be one of those places.

If the US had 5 times more people, the result would be similar.

I grew up with and around Chinese people, and from all I've experienced with them, I don't have much reason to have very much faith in them.

Conversely, you may not have experience with other groups, so you can't say the same thing won't happen with them.
