At times, some hiccups will appear in life.

Life improvement advise/guidance tell us to

    - Be our authentic self
    - Get away from our comfort zone
    - Learn, change and grow

If I change and grow, is it still my authentic self? How to know? How to find the balance? Some say to be happy, we have to be our real self. But, if we don't change, grow and try new things, our life will be stagnant and we will not achieve anything.

    Be our self vs change

    It's kinda contradictory. I'm confused.

Currently watching "A Change of Heart" and man, has Joey Meng aged gracefully. I can't believe she's over 40! I can only wish to look half as good when I hit that age...

I posted a similar question a few years ago. The consensus from the male posters (candidate, ren wo xing, banh mi) was that "be yourself" by itself is rubbish. I tend to agree now.

My current thinking is to be authentic on the qualities I see as good or harmless, and improve the ones that hinder me from being the best I can be.

What is the meaning of bahat? Or is it a place in Malaysia?

What LA/SF rivalry? Los Angeles folk never even think about San Francisco. If there's one place LA contrasts itself to, it's Orange County.

Neither are as violent as their ancestors, but they've gone about different ways to suppress their violent ways. While the Vulcans control themselves, the Romulans control each other. The Vulcans have a solution found in the individual, while the Romulan solution is centered around society.

Was reading some evil leaders. Genghis Khan and his army killed a lot of people. The methods of killing were quite scary.

Well, yeah. Temujin has his fearful reputation in history for a reason.

Temujin realized that if his troops were more fearsome in their assaults, that fearsome reputation would make it less frequently necessary to actually engage in combat. Fear would cause enemies to crumble without an actual assault. It was a successful exercise in psy-ops/propaganda. Many cities fell to the Mongols without actually having fought them.

In the movie "Genghis Khan", unless it was wrong, Genghis Khan did mention that he would not kill women, children, old and weak. Does not seem to be true in his expeditions.

E.g. "On another occasion, Mongols rounded up 70,000 men, women and children, and shot them with arrows. Genghis told his comrades: “Man’s greatest good fortune is to chase and defeat his enemy, seize his total possessions, leave his married women weeping and wailing, ride his gelding, use his women as a nightshirt and support, gazing upon and kissing their rosy breasts, sucking their lips which are as sweet as the berries of their breasts. ” http://listverse.com/2011/04/17/10-more-evil-men/

    Calling Ken, calling Ken.

There is a "Rabbit" promoting TVs. It is good information though. "Rabbit" could have promoted once instead of the same information on different sub-forums.

My impression of Houston after a week there:

    1. boring, boring, boring.
    2. way too hot.
    3. excellent Chinese food.

Still, probably the least attractive big city I've been to in the US.

Maybe the Star Wars' Tarkin Doctrine which promotes fear of force, rather than force itself, was based on this psy-ops?

    It's kinda contradictory. I'm confused.
well in all seriousness here, if u are enjoying life as is, then u dont need to change anything either u are acting or being your authentic self, no need to change anything.

if u arnt enjoying life, then make some changes, stepping out of ur normal boundary is the first step
