    I just read about how to manipulate people and influence outcome by employing cognitive dissonance tricks. I'm gonna try this on my coworkers

    How? does cognitive dissonance means emotions and thinking is different? you know that smoking is bad, but because of your emotional state, you smoke.

    Both

    It basically creates a conflict in the person, and uses a little bit of incentive (but not a lot) AND/OR alleviation to sway them.

    Anyone else felt the earthquake today? It was a 5.8 magnitude one...stronger than the last one from last summer but well it didn't wake my brother up.

    Just the idea that there *can* be a large earthquake in the northeastern U.S. is unsettling.

    We expect big quakes out here on the Pacific Coast, but earthquakes in DC and New York is as bizarre as tornadoes in LA and SF, if not more so.

    ^^ Actually, I feel the same way. haha. The 20 odd something years I've been on the East Coast--nothing--then we had one last summer...and now one today.

    Geologically, it's just...weird. Everybody knows about the large earthquake faults on the Pacific Rim, and there's a pocket of geological activity in the southeastern U.S. around Missouri, but the mid-Atlantic/New England area?

    Yeah, that's unsettlingly weird. The religiously inclined might say it's a supernatural omen, while the more sci-fi oriented might start thinking invaders from space or giant monsters moving underneath.

    It was said something about 90 miles away from the DC Area, but everyone felt it up and down the NorthEast Coast side.

    I think the last time we had an earthquake, it was early morning and I was asleep so I didn't notice it. But what happened an hour ago was weird. I thought my stupid neighbors were doing something upstairs and then the whole room shook for a good minute or two. Everyone else was talking about it felt in VA, MD, NJ and DC.

    If one is Ultraman, one spends one's days doing this kind of stuff:

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRMwalkReq56oSDnC1dDbFKF35RhJZJA Fd9sCUTccHyUQvaUImK8Q')

    Which seems as fun as all get-out. I mean: who *wouldn't* want to lay the smackdown on a giant alien lobster thingy?

    Amazing. Boss ran away and workers takeover the factory and run it to success. This is old news, but, such factories takeover is still happening in Argentina.

    This is perfect case of turning bad situation around to become opportunities.

    Friday ... a crazy week is finally coming to an end. We had an inspector/auditor come by yesterday to visit the school (it's part of a franchise and inspections occur once a year or two). In a nutshell, the kids showed that they could be better-behaved and more hard-working than usual when they wanted to, and the inspector/auditor went away extremely happy and satisfied. She gave us a 99.7% score on her grading sheet. Phew, what a relief!
