Bu Bu Jing Xin 《步步惊心》 - Nicky Wu, Liu Shi Shi, Kevin Cheng, Yuan Hong

The BTS pics are funny. It's one thing to see half bald men in costume...but it's awkward on another level to see half a dozen shaved baldies toasting with wine in modern clothes. LoL. Shi Shi tends to look a bit washed out in her costumed pics, but she's quite captivating on screen. This is what I thought when I saw her as Yi Shuang Shuang in Madame White Snake 2.

I think Bu Bu Jing Xin has a very good cast if it's a much more serious series than Yu Zheng's time travel series.

i'm hoping that it would be almost as good as young warriors, since it looks like they have a good cast that can(?) pull off the bald(...or is it half-bald? idk) look

and don't kill me here, but i really dont think YH pulls off the bald look very well! my list would go:
1. kevin
2. nicky (except for the ears...did anyone else notice that he has like huge ears in comparison to his head? LOL )
3. li geng xin (yeah...in the official photos he doesn't look half bad! )

Yeah, I now agree with you on second look. I think guys with small eyes look better bald. I mean who knows? Peter might look good bald. Yuan Hong's eyes are too big. But I still think he looks better than Nicky bald bcos his ears are flat against his head. Nicky's elephant ears...jeez! And Lin Geng Xin's ears have this wierd pointed shape which makes him look like one of Santa's little elves. (LOL...I'm jetlag in London but in a jolly Christmas mood!)

LOL...now I soooooo want to see Nicky and Lin Gengxin flap their ears like Dumbo the flying Disney elephant.

Yuan Hong's big eyes go better with a full head of hair, but I still think he's the best-looking Prince, even though he doesn't look good bald.

Take for example Gong Suo Xin Yu - with hair, Feng Shaofeng is much better looking than Mickey He, but with the bald Qing look, Mickey looks a lot better than Feng Shaofeng.

Hm. wait. 4th and 14th have the same mother right? It makes sense, they both inherited the flappy ears from their mama..hehehe

OMG, Kevin is seriously hunky on screen!!! He definitely looks much hotter than Nicky in the video. Yeah, Nicky probably beefs up at the gym to make up for his lack of height. I dun mind seeing LSS kissing Kevin even tho his real age is almost a generation older than her, as he looks really young for his age - looks much younger than Nicky! Now I know why Niki Chow and Charmaine Sheh raised hell when he broke up with them, heheh!

Maybe he might do better in Qing series. I didn't really like him in Realm of Conscious, but it's more bcos of the weakness of the script and characterisation rather than of him.

Of course Nicky and Kevin would lose out to YH and LGL. Table tennis is the national sport in Mainland, so with a Mainlander on LGL's side of the table, it's a foregone conclusion.

On second look, I think Lin Geng Xin has lots of potential to be popular (except for his elfish ears). He has this very Northern look which appeals to Mainlanders. I always thought Hu Ge's looks appeal more to Mainlanders (compared to YH) bcos Hu Ge has very Northern features - long sharp nose, chiseled high cheek bones, small eyes, narrow face, fair skin and very tall. Lin Geng Xin has all those attributes. YH looks a lot more Southern (Cantonese/Hokkien) that's why my friends (mostly Cantonese & Hokkien) who follow Mainland series prefer YH, so just as well he gets more exposure to HK/Southerners with Ad World.

Pretty exciting times for Tangren with Lin Geng Xin on board.

Dunno, while everybody was gushing over Nicky, I had always thought Kevin was the better looking one (IMO). Yes, initially I was disappointed upon hearing Kevin was 8th prince, it took me awhile but I got over it, and now I am very okay with it (lets ignore his acting for now, that's another story...LOL)! Just something about him that made him kinda sexy to me.. hehehe (dodging away from the flying tomatoes )..LOL

It's always fun to watch the actors/actress's chemistry-off screen and see how they interact with each other. Looks like they're having a great time. I don't know if I should feel sorry or happy(jealous) of LSS. She's surrounded by good-looking men(jealous part...heheh), however, doesn't seem like she have girl-friend companions and may be out of place with all the boys goofing around with each other...

I still don't like him bald. I do hope he won't do any more Qing projects after this bcos the bald look really doesn't suit him (unlike Kevin). However, in the Sohu interview, he admitted he never liked fantasy (e.g. CP3, Dr Tao, Fantasy Zhu Xian - broad hint that Tangren's not the place for him) and with his move to Beijing he wants to do more 正剧 (i.e. serious historical drama types) which unfortunately would include Qing

And in his Baidu profile, he listed Er Yue He (二月河), a famous Qing dynasty historian and a total Yongzheng buff, as his favourite author.

Actually, don't you think Bu Bu Jing Xin is soooooooo not Tangren? It's more Yu Zheng's type. Karen's specialty is fantasy (Little Fairy, Liao Zhai) and video-game + comic-book adaptations (e.g. CP1, CP3, Strange Hero, Tian Zhi Hen). I still consider Young Warriors (a historical series) as Tangren's best ever production, but Karen didn't produce it, tho LGL did direct it. When she tried historical (i.e. Tian Ya Zhi Nu), she made a mess out of it.

I read that she bought Bu Bu Jing Xin's copyright for YH's sake (since he's a Qing dynasty buff)...and then he quits Tangren? Well, can't blame her for being mad at him.

To tell you the truth, I don't get the feeling LSS is as passionate about this role as she was about her role in Strange Hero. She not only looks washed out, but uninterested.

Hence I'm not really optimistic about Bu Bu Jing Xin, but hey, they could surprise me.
