    Default The XiaoFeng dilemma

I've been reading all too many posts from others than XF improved even without much training in a few months, and he's the one who could win fights when the odds are stacked against him. I know these are all presented in the novel, but sometimes, I grew fed up of this because in any XF vs poll, the guy would win most of the time. When running out of hard proof, the one reason that people rely on is because he's the #1 with warrior, fighter ... whatever spirit, and he would eventually win.

Now, imagine a XF vs XF fight. The first is the XF version during the manor slaughter, and the next was XF version during the Shaolin fight. Ain't it seems contradicting? The Shaolin XF would have improved after such a long time since the manor slaughter. But, XF is the one who could win fights that when his chips are down. Who takes the win? And why? Remember it's a public poll.

Ok, XF fans, start pounding me with XL18Z. I'm ready.

I don't quite get the question. The later XF should always be better than the earlier XF I guess, and I don't see a situation where it wouldn't be the case.

Logically yes. But based on what we see, the Juxian Zhuang Xiao Feng performed a lot better. It was pathetic for WARRIOR GOD XF to not be able to take down MRF + YTZ, and makes no sense to me.

The Xiao Feng fighting MRF and YTZ was a kinder, gentler Xiao Feng.

First off... THANK YOU SO MUCH Shortsight for presenting this thread. I share a similar view with you regarding XF's prowess and have at times gotten frustrated that many people argue XF ftw only because "he appears to have super sayan mode"

    It's the perfect wuxia paradox!

    Going by XF logic:

    1) XF seems to perform better under stressful conditions (due to warrior spirit or whatever aura people like to attribute)
    2) This is demonstrated in Juxian manor whereby XF himself thought he would die but reliably outperforms in every dire scenario
    3) XF has been stated by the author that he can defeat stronger opponents
    4) As stated by PJ, Shaolin XF performed miserably against YTZ+MRF although he supposedly has gotten stronger (perhaps due to low lvls of stress or opposition)

Hence we can surely deduce that Manor XF must be able to beat Shaolin XF

because it's so obvious that although Saolin XF is stronger;manor XF will just outperform expectations and beat the stronger opponent =P

Snafu: Maybe XF is the ORIGINATOR of the Dugu 9 Swords syndrome - the stronger the opponent, the stronger he is! The weaker the opponent, the weaker he is. MRF + YTZ < Juxian Zhuang (stated by JY!!), so XF performed worse against MRF + YTZ.

    Makes perfect sense!

speaking of dilemma/contradictions, XF has a lot for someone who was claimed to be a WARRIOR GOD. Here are just a few (OK, maybe more than a few, which illustrates the point of dilemma):

    ================================================== =============
    1. Needing 3 palms to overcome Gongye in a direct palm match (note that YTZ KOs a Xuan monk in ONE palm).

    2. Fighting so slow that WYY could see his moves.

-he felt great discomfort by You Tanzhi's internal energy, whereas Ding Chunqiu didn't seem to feel it!

-while watching Feng Bo'e and the farmer from about 100+ feet away (?), when the farmer dumped the shit at Feng Bo'e, Xiao Feng was unable to move in fast enough to "save" Feng (of course, even more embarrassing for Feng, he wasn't able to evade).

-needed to receive instructions from Elder Xi! albeit around age 17.

-while hiding in secret, his breath was detected by his teacher, Reverend Xuanku.

-while hiding in Shaolin after his teacher's death, his presence was somehow detected by Abbot Xuanci.

-Up till chapter 17 or so, the toughest foe he ever fought was Abbot Xuanci, who was only at 1/3 of Xiao's power! He ought to find more worthy adversaries!

-When he first met Duan Yu at the drinking contest, couldn't tell Duan Yu was leaking water through a finger, even though they were going at it for several hours!

-Was shocked to hear that a kung fu can allow someone to drip water through their finger, even though Qiu Chuji did something similar in LOCH (release water through his feet ?).

. He failed to kill Ah Zhu instantly with his maximum strength (plot device victim).

. He failed to slaughter a tiger instantly with 70% of his strength.

While on a horse, he dropped the Yijinjing manual and didn't even know, thus enabling You Tanzhi to pick it up.

Despite boasting that he could steal items easily from the palace or even an army, XF got his own fan stolen.

Ahh I see guess this is one of those JY tells us one thing and shows us another type thing.

Could it just be at Shaolin Xiao Feng would have defeated them handily despite what he thought ? After all, at Juxian he thought there was no way in hell he would get out of there, but then doesn't suffer any injury whatsoever until they get all sneaky on him. Maybe if we get to see a real resolution of that fight he would've just slammed them halfway into it.

Maybe it's simply going to be a draw. When either one of the XF starts performing above the other, the weaker one will probably start to power up to another level and take over the lead and advantage. Then, the other XF starts to power up another level, ... the advantage keeps oscillating until ... man they can even reach sweeper's level like this!

    - XF and GYG were just having a friendly competition at a table, not an all-out match, so he was holding back considerable power. By contrast, YTZ used 100% power, and the force of that palm attack was fused with the poison of the ice silkworm.

    - Again, XF wasn't using 100% power when fighting Bao. And WYY didn't actually see his movements, she just predicted that he would use those stances. 包三哥,他左肘要撞你胸口,右掌要斩你腰胁,左手便抓你的‘气户穴’

    - XF wasn't a poison expert so YTZ's Yin-cold energy caused him difficulties, whereas DCQ was one. More importantly, by the time of the fight at Shaolin, YTZ's energy had reached a whole new level compared to when he fought Ding. 这时游坦之体内的冰蚕寒毒得到易筋经内功的培养,正邪为辅,火水相济,已成为天下一等一的厉害 内功

    - No one could cover 10 zhang (33.33 m) in a flash.

    - Xuan Ci saw XF's image in the mirror. Also, he might have detected his position thanks to A'Zhu's heavy breathing.

    - They drank together for just over a meal's time, and not several hours. 只一顿饭时分,两人都已喝了三十来碗. And how was he supposed to know that DY was playing that trick, as the flow of wine was covered by the railing? 他左手搭在酒楼临窗的栏杆之上,从小指甲流出来的酒水,顺着栏杆流到了楼下墙脚边

    - He did not know any advanced finger technique, so understandably it came as a suprise to him that wine in the stomach could be forced out thru the fingers.

    - The tiger was no joke. It must've weighed around 600 Jin. No one short of Xiaoyao Oldies should be able to kill it in 1 palm attack at 70% power.

    - XF was very probably having an unstable state of mind when he dropped the bag. 原来萧峰睹物思人,怔忡不定,将这本易筋经放回怀中之时没放得稳妥,乘在马上恶一颠动,便摔入草丛之中,竟 没发觉

Well, as a comparison, in HSDS Zhang Wuji's running was said to be so fast that people whom he passed didn't even know a person just passed them. So if a Great can run a certain distance (20+ feet) that fast, surely they can execute moves a lot faster? Wang Yuyan doesn't have any power which would let her see things faster than experienced martial artists.

Another comparison is that when TSTL and LQS were fighting, even Xuzhu (after inheriting WYZ and getting pointers from TL) could not tell who is who, he can only see 2 blurs. Don't think Wang Yuyan can see their moves or what they're doing.

    Agree.

A martial artist is supposed to be observant. Someone's finger leaking liquid close to you for over 30 minutes-1 hour should not go unnoticed!

    - He did not know any advanced finger technique, so understandably it came as a suprise to him that wine in the stomach could be forced out thru the fingers.
He doesn't have to know how to do it, but he should know it's possible.

    - The tiger was no joke. It must've weighed around 600 Jin. No one short of Xiaoyao Oldies should be able to kill it in 1 palm attack at 70% power.
What you just said is a pretty good joke.

I know, but it still reflects poorly on him.

To asnwer the OP's original question, this is like end of SOD Linghu Chong fighting mid SOD Linghu Chong. Not to hard to imagine the victor.

Indeed, I think even if LHC practiced Dugu 9 Jian for another 30 years, he would still be blinded by the LHC that was injured, half dead, and unable to use his internal energy.

What you just said is a pretty good joke.
    - Unless XF, or anyone else, was telepathic or had a force field like Supermonk did, there was no way he could know that there was a trickle of wine running down along the railing.

    - But QCJ forced water out of his feet, whereas DY pulled this trick with his fingers, which might be at a whole different level of difficulty. Another thing to consider is, XZ, despite having 200+ years of advanced internal energy, had to use external liquid when he executed the Talisman of Life and Death on DCQ.

    - Why a good joke? The tiger is the biggest and strongest cat (300kg) and among the cats it has the best skull structurally. Unlike the LMSJ, the XL28P was not a piercing type of martial arts so there's nothing strange when he failed to kill it w/ a palm attack to the head.

Didn't Aobai, who had NO internal energy, kill a tiger with just his physical strength?

Well the thing is this, Huang Yaoshi, who is much weaker than Xiao Feng, was able to kill a horse in one blow in LOCH.

But the matter being discussed is killing a tiger w/ 1 palm attack to the head. And we don't know whether the big cats Aobai killed were chained up or not.

The horse is a herbivore, how can its skull compare with that of the tiger in terms of enduring pressure? XF also killed a bunch of horses, using 1 palm attack for each.

By paying attention and looking with his eyes?

Or might not be. Either way, QCJ is leagues weaker than XF, which makes it even more fun.

It didn't just not kill the tiger, it didn't even really scratch the tiger!

I'm pretty sure weaker fighters have done better elsewhere in JY canon.
