I'm glad they casted a sexy Mui Chui Fung.
Mui Chui Fung use to scare me sooo bad when i was a kid. Now i see her in a whole new light!
She kinda looks like Ada Choi, I haven't seen much mainland productions to know who this is.

i so agree, MCF was potrayed so well, so was everyone else really.......
A dream that really comes true, cannot truly be called a dream.
GJ being old looking at that time was ok? GJ was 18 when he lift Mongolia and that would be technically only 17 if you didn't count him as 1 at birth like the Chinese do.GJ looking a lil old is ok, because he lived on the Mongolian plains exposed to nature constantly. It’s understandable that he’d look older than his real age. He should have been more tan though. Zhou Jie on the other hand, appearance wise he is a utter failure. From the production shots I didn’t have high expectations and as expected he was the biggest failure of LOCH.

so what do u think about REVIEW of the seies? do you think they capture all nuance you mentioned above?
back w/ a vengeance ^_^
yeah, the review they've wrote is excellent...it was very detailed and said like exactly what i think after watching the stunning LOCH 03.
Although i disagree on how nice they were to Zhou Jie as Yang kang
I also think the Greats were very well potrayed, but no one seems to aree on it

I disagree that the Greats in there are portrayed well. They're all so boring. I think TVB did a better job on that part.

hmm, quite an interesting review but I think I'am the only one that doesn't like this serie. Somehow I felt it dragged on in certain scenes, which became unneccessary. I tend to think the portrayal of wuxia in movies should have that core element of simplicity. Seems like another big budjet project, but there were no flying of sparks here!
This was an amazing rendition of LOCH. CCTV usually never disappoints me. The Greats were portrayed well. I thought Zhou BuoTong was pretty funny, but they made OuYang Feng too pitiful. His jumping into the pit twice (and yelling something along the lines of "Grandpa is not afraid") really cracked me up. And he cooked dinner for Guo Jing! And mother told me that the actor who played Hong Qi Gong used to be in all these Cultural Revolution movies, so she couldn't get used to his character in here. But I've never watched any of his other movies, so to me, he was just a kooky old man.
I've never seen the TVB version to compare, but I really liked this anyway. Zhou Xun moved up my "list" to be a favorite actress (this spirited role is so different from the one in Ju Zi Hong Le). Zhou Jie... Personally, I don't think he's a great actor. His widening of eyes is really fake (in HZGG too), and well, something about him annoys me.
Btw, does anyone know where I can find the ending theme (or at least song info)? Duo xie.

for some reason, dat scene on the island wit HR and Ou yang ke made me simpasize OYK. i felt dat HR was mean to him and he was just trying to be nice. with the whole rock thing....
i luv the ending theme, it suits the story. nice singing.
it was kinda cheesy dat they shows all the couple spinning.
yup, MCF was alsome
How I feel about you doesn't matter. It's you who has to live with yourself.

and hung 7 gong... WOW! talk about worst hung 7 gong yet... he dosnt even look strong and buffed

Well, Hung 7 Gong managed to potray that he is a great caring teacher
I only found the wardrobe a bit distracting, but most of the acting was great.
Problems I found with the clothes/makeup were:
- OYF reminded me of Shakespeare (the hair is just that right length)
- YG reminded me of LNC in "White-haired Demoness".
- GJ his leather jacket.
- HR with low cut.
- YK looked as if he was the servant instead of the Prince (clothes were dull and cheap looking)

I totally agree. I hated their voices. It took away a lot from their performances. Guo Jing is not very smart but he didn't have to sound retarded (talking very slowly in a deep monotone voice). Huang Rong's voice was too soft and hoarse. It didn't suit the personality at all. She is a very spirited girl (a tigress) but every time I hear her soft voice, I picture a small kitten.Originally posted by LuNaR

It's interesting to find so many people here liking this series.
This series was slammed big time in China! Seems most people hated it. The number of reviews dissing it are funny.
Obviously, I'm a big LOCH 83 fan. I don't really think the LOCH02 was a bad series by itself. But as an adaptation, it doesn't bring the feeling of the novel to life.
